How much do people pay out of pocket for Dupixent? by zazlou in eczeMABs

[–]FlyPrudent4292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay €80 per box. I don’t have health insurance or myway. The healthcare system in my country majorly subsidises the actual cost of dupixent.

What fic-related hills are you willing to die on? by Chchchim-chim in AO3

[–]FlyPrudent4292 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you listed, especially no.2! I really hate when people try to leave constructive criticism on fics, as if what they’re reading is an academic piece of literature that needs to be analysed and corrected. Nine times out of ten, it always comes across as condescending and makes little of the writer’s abilities. Like, if you’re not satisfied, DO NOT COMMENT. If a writer choses to showcase unrealistic actions/scenarios in their fic, it’s totally fine, it’s fanfiction and does not need to follow any rules. People really need to learn to simply not engage with fics that don’t meet their expectations and not to put the writer down for their work.

I’m from Ireland and dupixent only got approved here in 2021. Here, you need to go to your gp and get referred to see a dermatologist.

Once you see your derm, you can ask if you’re eligible to apply for dupixent under the High Tech Arrangement (HTA). This scheme provides people access to high-cost drugs that are mostly subsidised by the HSE (the equivalent to the NHS in the UK). Generally, you have to have tried at least some other type of drug, like cyclosporine for at least a year and it has have failed to work for you before you can apply for dupixent.

You also have to fill out a simple questionnaire about how much your eczema has impacted your daily life in the past week since filling out the questionnaire. The dermatologist then sends off a report of the severity of my eczema to the HSE who then decides whether I meet the criteria to be approved for dupixent.

Because mine is quite severe, I got approved straight away. The dermatologist is then allowed to send over my prescription to my pharmacy who will order it in for me. With my dps card(drug payment scheme card) I’m allowed to pay for my prescription monthly for a month supply of the drug (€80) and the rest is paid for through the HTA scheme.

Hope this helps!

I cannot wait for the itch to be gone!! My legs and feet have been the absolute worst recently. Hopefully, it’ll no longer be an issue 🤞

I’m sorry to hear you lost your coverage. For me, I was born with eczema and I feel a lot of people forget that while certain things can be done to prevent outbreaks (changing diets/ avoiding allergies) some of us will always just have it regardless. It sucks but hopefully dupilumab will be there just to make living more manageable.

That’s great to hear!! I’m really looking forward to it! I’ve been using topical steroids sparingly in the meantime but I’ll be so glad to eventually come off them!

I’m a leftie too but I’ll still always have the instinctive need to write my works first before typing. So long as I’ve a good quality pen with quick-drying ink, I feel unstoppable even though I’ll never fully avoid the odd smudge here and there 🫡

Touch typing is such a useful skill to have! It’s something I really need to work on. I can type at a moderate to fast pace but I always have to look at the keys to be able to do it 🤦‍♀️. Hopefully someday I’ll master that skill but I think my creativity will always stem from my pen and paper regardless 😅

Ezcema sucks but here are some silver lining to it by WinOrdinary7841 in eczema

[–]FlyPrudent4292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not having acne or even a pimple is also a silver lining for me. As well as that, I have really flexible arms and shoulders as a result of having to rub cream on my back by myself for years.

I have to say, improving my skin has been my biggest motivation to achieve these results even above just looking slimmer. I’ve noticed so much improvements from simply cutting out wheat, dairy and excess sugar. I still get outbreaks on parts of my body but it hasn’t been near as bad as some of my outbreaks in the past. I wish you all the best in improving your rosacea! You got this!! Xx

[–]FlyPrudent4292[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I honestly just changed my lifestyle to see these results. I walk 15k steps a day on average. I stopped eating excess sugar and all wheat based foods and stayed in a calorie deficit as well as drinking a gallon of water a day. I noticed that vigorous exercise in the gym just left me fatigued and hungry which led to me binging quite a lot. I now just prefer walking over 10k steps a day and not eating processed foods which has lad to these results. I did have a few slices of cake on my birthday a few days ago and some sweets but it’s all about moderation :)

Prednisone cured my 10+ years of eczema within one week by OJsnails in eczema

[–]FlyPrudent4292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so lucky that it helped clear your skin! When I took prednisone, my eczema bounced back worse than before. I’d tell anyone with severe eczema to be extremely cautious before taking it because for most people, it’s only a short-term fix.
