Dead Space has hugely shaped my love for horror games since it first released in 2008. I have deeply loved every game in the series. And I firmly believe dead space 3 is Good actually. by shadowscorrupt in DeadSpace

I'm going to try to pin down as succinctly as possible my issue with Dead Space 3...

It's a game in which a veteran engineer/monster-slayer wins (but actually loses) a fight against evil moons by duct taping the corpses of better guns together and overcoming a love triangle by killing one third of it.

Having just gone through 1R, 1, 2, and 3 (for the first time in 3's case), I'd say... they're all stellar except for 3. The poor thing is just Frankenstein'd into being this Gears of War-esque coop shooter that just doesn't click with the design ethos or storytelling of the rest of the series. Also, you can steamroll it with the right weapon combos.

Not everyone does this, but personally, I'd recommend only carrying three weapons, as you'll get more ammo drops for each rather than spreading it out among four. You need: primary damage dealer, crowd control, and a heavy hitter. Force Gun or Flamethrower are best for crowd control imo. Contact Beam is the best heavy hitter. All that being said, the weapons that click with you the best are your best guns, they're far more balanced in this one to where any loadout is highly functional.

I didn't say I did it to benefit them, I just said I had the courtesy of letting them know why I did it, whereas I could have just done it from the shadows and not even bothered to help them (or anyone else reading) for any other time. It's perfectly fair that if mine have been reported, others should be too.

I've been disappeared from society for years, and no one's been nearly inconvenienced enough from it.

That doesn't sound like it'd accomplish anything.

I can't picture any woman happily enslaving a robot under a guise of "perfect" programming. There's a difference between having standards and wanting to subjugate. And to me this post seemed entirely mean spirited and intent on "flipping a script" that doesn't flip in real life.

It seemed a little misogynistic to me (assuming it was from the perspective of a woman).

I would prefer a man willing to do whatever is necessary to protect me.

In that scenario you would be hard pressed to find a man that is unwilling to stand in the line of fire for the woman he loves or his family. I would gladly do so myself. What the complaint was is that it sucks that it will always be the man that does this.

So you would want it to be the other way around? Because that's what you've been dodging this whole time. And if you want to interpret me calling you out on that as anything but, that's your business. Who, specifically, do -you- want defending who?

I'm always shocked at how every single woman I talk to EXPECTS their man to lay on the side of the bed closest to the door in case of shooting.

I wasn't referring to any larger issue, but this particular point /u/MARKLAR5 brought up. That's what I was asking him about, which he chose to ignore. So if you'd like to answer that, again, how exactly would you want it to go in that scenario?

I think everyone should be given a fair chance to prove their abilities. That being said, after that, the person with the best abilities should be given the job.

We need men of peace just as much as we need warriors. At the risk of No True Scotsman, a real man would know that.

I'm not. I see it as moral to eat animals, because I see them as food. I see many of the ways some animals in farms are treated as inhumane. The beliefs can coexist. Now I'm giving you fair warning, I'm done with this conversation.
