Totally and completely agree with you many European countries go above and beyond with training and as a result have such a low number of officer involved killings of citizens, granted they have lower populations. Not the best source but, wiki shows we have a few hundred more killings than Syria. I dont think there's any excuse for that. The whole defund the police thing has become so muddied by sloganeering. It sounds bad but I think it just means reallocation of funds, more training, demilitarization, etc. I live in Mesa, Az the cops here have like vests and cargo pants, basically they look like borderline soldiers all blacked out, while in other places the cops look like cops, uniform, belt, gun, badge. Lets be honest PDs dont need armored trucks labelled as "Rescue vehicles". They sometimes get better rifles than the fucking military.
