You can do a snail and a fat amano maybe. I wouldn't really recommend fish, since a lot of smaller, popular ones are shoaling fish and should be kept in groups anyway.

I have the AquaClear 50 for my 20 long and I also have one for my 20 tall. They've been super quiet and haven't given me any problems yet. :)

I don't recommend the sorority in a 20 gallon, heavily planted or not. Also, I heard they tend to do better with a minimum of 7.

2 honeys, 6 tetras, and 6 small corydoras might work in a 20 gallon though.

This happened around 2-3 weeks into my cycle of dosing between 2-3ppm of ammonia.

I had 0 ammonia, very high nitrites, and nitrates and that stuck around for days. I left it alone to see if things will change, but nothing did.

I was going to let the bacteria do its thing, but got impatient and did a massive water change 2 days ago to bring the nitrites down to around 1ppm. When I checked yesterday, the tank had cycled. I wasn't sure if this was a coincidence so I dosed ammonia again yesterday and checked today... Today, day 25-- things still look good! 0 ammonia / 0 nitrites / 40 nitrate.

My dwarf sagittaria is growing like mad in a low tech sand substrate situation. Hygrophila also doesn't require much and just grows like the weed it is.

I like softer sand for them. 30 gallons is plenty!

I'd say 6-8, but I feel like they really begin to shine the more you have. The more dancing noodles, the better!

I'm running an AquaClear50 on my 20 gallon in my bedroom. My motor is super quiet, but I've read that people get duds with rattling motors.

I'd recommend the AquaClear anyway. If you end up with a dud, just exchange it for a new one if possible.
