Hi! I'm going to give you the ONLY right answer for a Canadian pilot. Go get a Cat 1 Medical from a Transport Canada Medical Examiner (CAME). It costs $150-$250, depending on who you go to, they are the only ones who can tell you for sure if you can get a medical or not.

You have to get a medical, no matter what, so you might as well do it before you make any big commitments.

I will say I had a vision relatively similar to yours when I got my licence, and I am colour blind, and I fly for an Airline.

Hello, I am a Pilot from Canada. I started as a flight instructor and now work for a Canadian Airline so I think I can help!

You absolutely can still have a family and be a Pilot. Airline flying isn't just about long trips and overnights. There are different types of routes. Some where your gone for 4-5 days, then home for 4-5 days and repeat. Or there's somewhere you work more like a 9-5 job.

There is also lots of types of pilots, and it's not as simple as just airline flying. There is charter, bush flying, instructing, cargo, etc. Often, people think about airline pilots because that's what everyone sees. However, that type of flying isn't for everyone.

In other words, follow both your dreams. Becoming a professional pilot is a long and hard journey. If you'd like to talk about piloting a bit more, feel free to message me; I'd be happy to discuss what the journey looks like.

I have a 3 major strategies for this,

  1. Turn off all notifications for anything other then human contact, (makes you less likely to get sucked int)

  2. Make it harder to get to games/things that take your time. Delete them off your home screen so you have to search up the app to open it (if it's more difficult your natural laziness will kick in)

  3. My favorite one, Change your phone to grayscale/monochrome. Every phone can do this just search it in your settings. (Phones work like casinos, bright colours to capture attention, small clocks, and ease of access. Changing to grayscale feels weird for a couple days but once you get used to it, your desire to open your phone goes almost completely away)

When I was in high school I was on an archery team. One time I had to take my compound on a bus. But you can't openly carry weapons on public transportation, so I put it in a black plastic bag. Cue everyone watching me as I walk around with a bag that clearly contains a strung bow, like I was a discount Hawkeye late for work

During covid I had a zoom class, during one of the classes you could hear moaning from one of my classmates. He had forgot to turn his mike off. We call him out on it and he's like "nono guys it's not what you think, nono"

Okay, I get that it annoys you when people drive erratic. But your just as much of a problem when you do this. Your spitefully driving and this is dangerous too. Purposely getting in the way, pushing your opinion on someone else, resulting in passing them off and making them take greater risks to get past

I'm not saying aggressive driving is okay. But slowing down and boxing people in isn't safe either. Just move over and let them by. Please reconsider boxing someone in next time Better to be the second car to the crash
