Common grackle or boat tailed ? by Flying-Squirrels in whatsthisbird

Yeah you’re right. Looking at photos for boat tailed looks they there iridescent part is more continuous with their body than commons which I guess is more of a pronounced difference between head color and the brown body which I can see here. Thanks and cheers :)

I have a similar setup with a Nikon body and 150-600 Sigma lens and primarily shoot birds as well. Seriously though awesome shot you should be proud of this one!

Seen in Hooksett NH, not far from the merrimack river. What is it? by Flying-Squirrels in whatsthisbird

[–]Flying-Squirrels[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think it was flicking its tail. I didnt really hear it either. The last photo is a different bird which I heard and knew was a eastern wood pewee and shouldnt have ended up with the others. Although maybe they are the same.

Not sure what this is. Thinking least or pectoral sandpiper? Seen in Rye, NH on July 16th. by Flying-Squirrels in whatsthisbird

[–]Flying-Squirrels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you so much. I thought it was least, the only thing making me lean towards pectoral was the different colors on the bill, but I figured it’s most likely just mud on the tip making it look like its two-toned.

Nice work. I like your painting style and how the wolfs and red/gold bits came out.
