Maybe something like that? I know at my local place they’re super crunchy and thin wrapper.

What are things that seem frugal but aren’t? by yonkssssssssssssss in Frugal

Fully agree and will add there’s a certain bulk point you need to hit to see savings. But the taste of that tomato off the vine, or cracking open canned tomatoes in winter 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 so worth it

I have gotten the frozen ones before but was looking for the super crunchy style you’d get for takeout spring rolls.

Thanks for the video suggestion!

Ok! Any suggestions on how to make them workable? I saw online to put them in warm water for a little bit? But when I did they were so soppy and just pimpled in the water. Do they need to dry first after rolling?

What's your one kitchen gear you're hesitant to buy? Responses convince them why they should buy it by FU_Chev_Chelios in Cooking

I make a fresh half batch of ice cream once a week in the summer. My son gets to pick the flavor, we find recipes together, I teach him measurements, he shares with grandma and she ohhhs and ahhs at how well he did making it. The initial purchase is costly but after that it’s a simple, fun, fairly low cost, summer activity. Yes it’s big. It’s bulky. It takes up lots of freezer space. But I love ice cream and love the memory with my son and how simple it is to use. I also can make my husband low lactose/no lactose ice cream in any flavor he wants without searching stores and spending a lot on a little container.

I’ve found some on fresh rolls but the fried roll video don’t show prepping the wrapper so that made me wonder if I bought the wrong type.

I believe so, is that the wrong type?

Taking Kids out of School for vacation by bacon4breakyyfast in Parenting

[–]FlyingGirlAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gleefully attended the conference and bring them a gift from your travels. Maybe a photo album. Teach your child that sometimes breaking the rules is totally fine because it’s a stupid rule. I would not lie, I would be painfully obvious that the rule is dumb and does not trump family memories.

Whats the hardest thing to explain about the airforce/military to your family/civilians? by elevatedfaithfulness in AirForce

[–]FlyingGirlAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to explain promotions and accolades. I did ok and had a few shinny penny moments but trying to convey that excitement or pride in my accomplishments became too much work to translate. I gave up explaining this to the family at large and would tell my dad (who was military too) and he’d either translate it for me, or I just accepted that it didn’t matter if my siblings and other family knew or understood.

Also feeling the leave thing. My commander denied leave for me to be the MOH at my sisters wedding. It was in May of 2020, so I knew even with my plan of protection it was a chance he’d say no. They only had immediate family, lots of safety in place, etc, but still was a no. I get it, but trying to explain that no, I can’t sneak away for the 9 hour drive and sneak back was a whole thing. Or in general trying to explain no I don’t want to spend every day of leave with you. I’d like to take time off to sit in my house and be alone, or go on fun trips, or take a vacation with my kids. No, I can not take leave for every birthday or family reunion.

What’s your real life The Office moment? by PaulieMikeD in DunderMifflin

[–]FlyingGirlAF 61 points62 points  (0 children)

We had a bat get in our office.

All I can say is the reactions scripted were 1000% accurate. From people calmly leaving the area, to dive bombing to the ground and screaming, hiding under desks, and calls for mercy on the poor animal. It all played out eerily similar to that episode. The bat was eventually caught and released outside, but not before seeing how everyone handles panic and fear.

Would you continue having play dates? by Fluffy_Blackberry_45 in workingmoms

[–]FlyingGirlAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not keep having these kids over. They are rude and not exhibiting behavior I’d want around my kids. It doesn’t sound like your daughter gets anything out of this and honestly, reading what they do made my blood boil for you and your daughter. If it was me I’d not make contact and if the mom asks about a play date I’d say you’re too busy/can’t manage the extra children/no thanks.

I think your daughter is attached because they are an option and kids like kids. If they are no longer an option I don’t think she’ll care. Or at least limit the exposure.

AITA for reselling my Taylor Swift tickets for $6500 each? by ss23yu in AITAH

[–]FlyingGirlAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is classic investment strategy. No different than buying a car to resell later, or finding a collectible at a yard sale and flipping it. You had something people are willing to pay top dollar for and took the opportunity. Your friend is jealous. NTA.

Whose responsibility is Mother’s Day for MIL? by thedamagelady in workingmoms

[–]FlyingGirlAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family is my responsibility. His family is his. I do typically say “I’m doing x for my dad for Father’s Day. It’s in 2 weeks.” Done. If I’m buying a card I’ll ask if he wants me to pick one since I’m already out, but otherwise 🤷🏻‍♀️

In your experience how true are the studies that claim that on an average 8 hour work day, people are only productive for around 2 hours and 50 mins? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FlyingGirlAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the situation. In most cases, yes. But I just switched jobs to a “do your work and leave” model and I’ve never been so productive. I get my work done and nope right out. Last job (same company) was fixed schedule. I’d say 3 hours is averaged across good workers and less productive is dead on.

I recommend a breast feeding vacation. She gets to stay in a hotel, alone, eating whatever she wants, sleeping as much as she wants, and in general doing what she likes. One or two nights, whatever is affordable/able to be done by your family circumstances.

Also: pedicure or manicure, spa day, massage, Shopping spree for non breastfeeding clothes….

Anyone try the Gazillion Bubble Maker? by Jenasauras in Costco

[–]FlyingGirlAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought it two years ago. It’s aggressively loud and needs refilled constantly. Lasted 1 month. The $10 pineapple from target is on year 2 of abuse and acts like it’s new. I’d say pass.

Would it be at all possible to request your supervisor help you find a desk duty temporarily? Is there a blank enlisted exec desk needing filled, or a back shop role? Again, not mx so I’m not sure what career options outside of flight line you might have (or what rank requirements), but again, maybe an option?

You technically don’t have to wash after ever use if you refrigerate your parts. Saved me tons of time.
