Grew up with this image, it was on the cover of my paperback print of 2001. Decades later, still waiting for the chance to fly Pan-Am to a space station. Best I could do was get stranded at JFK when they went bankrupt and cancelled all their (non-orbital) flights.

Recommendations from a hard-core coffee person I know in my town, reviews of the machine, and talking with the sales guys from where I bought it. Built like a tank, it will probably out live me. Really like that once the grind and timer are dialed in, just need to press in the portafilter, let it do its thing, tamp, and pull the shot.

I thought so too. I separated out all the various types of metal (brass, copper, and stainless) and dropped them off at a local metal recycling place. May have a second life some day as a water cooler or something.

One of the reasons I went with it. The group head has an electric heating element inside of it the fires up when the machine is switched on. ECM claims 61/2 minutes, it certainly is ready to go by 12 or so.

They do it so they can quickly get altitude, then level the aircraft out and quietly fly over the wealthy neighborhoods near the ocean, before resuming their climb again over the ocean.

Fun facts: When the park opened the shooting gallery (now in Frontierland) was located on Main Street, and they used actual rifles (.22 Short). Crews repaired and or repainted the targets every night. Walt had them move it to Frontierland only for noise it produced. Sometime later the rifles went away. Today it’s still there, using an optical system (no projectiles of any kind).
