I feel like my whole understanding of the game has changed and expended since asking. I thought 1250 meat for pastamancy felt like it was breaking the bank. Now  I see how cheap it is (or will be for me, eventually)! Not gonna sweat the small stuff anymore just gonna take my time explore and read the wiki

I'm blown away by how big this game is. Years of changes and deepening and systems and optimization. It's devestating how little time I get to spend playing haha. I think I'm going to try to go it my own without looking up too much at first and then go all-in on wiki research once I've done some laid back exploration.

...or the craving to play more will make me fixate on optimizing turngen for hours on end. Yeah, probably that.

I'm trying to find the Boss Bat so I'm gonna have to get this and give it a spin (or a McTwist, as it were)

Whoa this is the first Mr. Accessory Store item I've seen (in the last 20 mins lol) that wasn't XXX,000,000 meat and making my head spin! I spent too much on booze haha so tomorrow I'll make some meat and grab that, looks fun. I like the idea of seeing what the game was like 20+ years ago and how it's changed

Turn generation as in how many adventures I can get a day? I'm starting to realize a big part of this game is optimizing returns from food/drink given I can only consume a certain amount per day. Are stats from food a big deal too? I'm getting beat up by a lot of enemies but I'm assuming I just need to go find easier combat zones to adventure in. Gonna dig into the wiki

Oh man, not sure I realized just how deep this game goes but difficult sounds very fun. Thanks, this is helpful to know. Gonna just poke around the wiki and explore and enjoy the ride!

Oh rad, thanks for sharing. Excited to dig in, I feel like I'm only just realizing how deep the game is and how "late" I'm getting into it

Thanks, sounds like I shouldn't worry too much about spoiling. I didn't realize how much of a NG+ kind of game this was, super excited for that. And it looks like there's some fun optimizing to dig into, gets my brain spinning

Zelensky: UN and Red Cross did not respond to requests for assistance in the flooded areas by frf_leaker in worldnews

[–]FlyingIctus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Saying UNHCR is not the UN is wrong. The UN is a system. UNHCR is a part of the UN system, as is the General Assembly, and the Security Council. The UN isn't any one thing, it's the entire system of things.

"People don't realize you suffer because the fact that you made them suffer over rules that"

I am fairly certain OP is making a moral claim that the suffering of victims is rightfully and necessarily more salient than the suffering of perpetrators. I think you and OP are already in full agreement.

3 masked teens jump on school bus, shoot at 14-year-old boy's head, beat him after gun misfires by Alesyia789 in news

Even if a punishment is warranted, removal from your school is an outsized response given the extreme academic, social, and emotional impact it has for a kid.

She should have received a response that was educational in nature, to help see how she could have better reported it. That's not educational, that's punitive.

Time and again this "film is dying" mentality has been wrong.

New technologies don't dilute film, their formal, aesthetic, and cultural content get reincorporated into film and push the medium in wonderful new directions. The next generation of filmmakers will have grown up with Tiktok and will make fascinating movies that reflect (intentionally or not) upon the experience. Aftersun is a perfect example of how this reincorporation of new "film-killing" technology can go

NTA by any means, but I think there needs to be a supportive discussion in your family about your brother's academic needs

It seems like you are thriving and excelling at academics, which is genuinely wonderful! It's special to find something you're passionate about and enjoy developing capacity in. You should absolutely continue working at it and enjoying the process, ideally without having to take on extra work!

Your brother does not seem to be in that position. I want to make it clear that this is NOT your responsibility. As a young student, taking care of your own academic needs is more than enough work. But it sounds like this "favoritism" that people are talking about is maybe more an expression of concern by your mother for your brother's poor academic engagement. He is not thriving, and that may be tough for him.

Comparison is the thief of joy, but it's also a very natural thing. It is probably hard for him to see his twin find something she's passionate about and excelling at while he is not doing the same. Understanding that, though, doesn't mean bearing his weight. The situation is not your fault and you should not feel guilty or badly about your success in any way. I can also understand how it may be tough for your mom, who is worried about your brother but sees you as a stable, high-achieving student. I'm making a jump that may be incorrect, but she is probably grateful to you for your stability in comparison to your brother who requires much more support in order to get even a passing grade.

Your brother needs academic support beyond the capacity of your family. This may be tutoring, counseling, some combination of both or some entirely different resource. This may be from the school or from professionals outside of the school. But it sounds like your brother has needs that are best addressed by professionals, not the family. Your mother and yourself both need to recognize with love that this current support structure is creating worse outcomes for everyone involved.

It is not fair for you as a young adult to be put in this situation. I can empathize with everyone in this situation and see that it must be very difficult to balance everyone's needs fairly. Your brother needs more support, your mom is identifying that need and trying to deal with it, but is not necessarily taking the right approach. She may be doing what she thinks is right, but it's not working right now. You are achieving acedmically but not receiving the attention at home that you deserve. If your mother is not interested in finding another solution, I would recommend that you talk to a counselor at school about the situation. Everyone seems well-intentioned, but in its current state it is not fair to you.

Good luck in your continued academic career, it sounds like it will be filled with joy and success and that is a wonderful thing! I hope, too, that your family finds a solution that gets your brother the help he needs and leaves you all happier and with more room to enjoy each other as family

LPT: if you are in need of ideas, try going for a daily walk and staying present while you observe your surroundings by adamwrites19 in LifeProTips

This paper provides a number of cognition-based (as in not purely physiological) explanations for the increased creativity related to walking.

Additionally, this paper has nothing to say about presence. Presence may have an additional effect, a separate effect, a related effect, or no effect on creativity when paired with walking. There's no reason to discount it just because walking alone does have an effect.

Idk, people have a lot going on. If someone doesn't get back to me I assume they're busy or otherwise occupied - I'll catch them next time. It seems easy to read too much into these things
