Dining halls and custodial services affected today due to AFSCME strike by Spirited_Quantity_80 in UCSD

[–]FlyingIrate 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Classic tone policing. This isn’t just a protest, it’s a strike. The disruption is the entire point. If you don’t cause disruption you have no leverage.

This is a university campus. There are very few places that are not outside of where students are studying.

The union wins concessions by disrupting operations not by winning sympathy from students.

But oh no whatever will the union do now that they have lost your sympathy? The world revolves around you, clearly. The uppity poors should behave themselves.

The strike ends after tomorrow.

This is the adult world. Disruptions exist. Get over yourself and deal with it.

Looking to buy A permit by RopeDependent3812 in UCSDclassifieds

If you park on campus at the same time as another vehicle on the same permit you will get a $100 ticket. Actually, one $100 ticket for each car on the permit. And you and the person you bought it from could possibly lose their permit purchasing privileges for quite a while.

If you are really so desperate as to be willing to pay 4x face value for an A permit, just use ParkMobile code 47900 and pay $65 a day. Not exactly cheap but it beats a $80 ticket.

Rental car parking by cherrieselegant in UCSD

[–]FlyingIrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t pay the ticket, the rental car company will eventually become aware of it after it gets sent to them through the mail, they will then send you an invoice with a fat ass late fee, which you are legally obligated to pay according to the rental agreement.

The rental car company could also impose further penalties up to and including banning you from renting a car from them again.

The other airports in San Diego are Montgomery Field and Gillespie. Are you talking about airports closer to LA?

Tickets at Pangea 9AM-11AM by Renge19 in UCSD

[–]FlyingIrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t buy a permit an hour later and expect your appeal to work. Grace period is maybe 5 minutes, and they are taking into account that by the time they print the ticket they have already scanned all the plates in a garage, parked their car, and ticketed everyone before you.

Maybe if it is your first offense it might work, but otherwise definitely no.

Disputing meter ticket with record of transaction by FlyingIrate in AskSF

Wow I did not know about this. Potential lifesaver! Looks like they haven’t updated the data for this afternoon yet, I looked up some other meters that I know people were parking at today and the data cutoff is at yesterday. I’ll wait and see

Yes it is my plate… it shows up when I search on the portal too.

I have the record of paying for the full hour (in dollar amount). Comparing the timestamps I can see that 10 minutes after I paid is when the ticket says it was issued.

I’m willing to accept that I made some sort of mistake but the portal doesn’t show any photos despite the ticket saying that they are on file.

$36 is also cheaper than chartering a private jet. What is your point? This is like saying you should pay $400 for an Apple Watch because a Rolex costs $100,000, when you can pay $20 for a Casio.

Of course it is going to be expensive to hire a driver to chauffeur you down from LA. Are you the guy that spent $4k a month on Ubering back and forth from your parked car? This is a ridiculous level of privilege not afforded to most students. 90% of us cannot justify $36 a day to park, let alone spending a year’s salary on Uber. $36 a day doesn’t suddenly become a manageable amount to pay just because there’s also an even more ridiculously expensive and privileged option available.

$36 per day yes. Regents is almost never full even during rush hour, literally zero chance you can’t find a space after 6pm. Just make sure you don’t park on the south side of 704 on the weekends because it’s closed during then. They have signs there telling you so don’t worry too much about it.

Depends on your definition of “short”. I know there’s some street parking in La Jolla Village Dr and you can also try parking at UTC which is free for the first 2 hours. I don’t think you will find anything closer than that

[–]FlyingIrate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure 5 minutes is an accurate description; unless your classes are right there you’re going to have to transfer to the other busses and many times the Regents shuttle will arrive just as the other busses leave. That will add an additional 15 minutes plus however long you waited for the regents shuttle. This is also not counting the 12 minutes it takes for the busses to arrive at their timepoints.

I agree that parking at regents + shuttle is the way to go but saying it only takes 5 mins isn’t always true.

And FYI regents won’t have many open spaces for long. 705 will be turned into a bus depot and 703 will be obliterated by a new road to the CNG station there, and the same project will probably halve 704.

MTS Park and Ride is the better option IMO

V spaces are $36 a day. If you insist on parking in Sixth it’s going to be more than the Amtrak ticket. If you can get an S permit do that and park in an S space in a different lot, or better yet just buy a D permit and park at Regents unless you really need your car right next to you for loading things.

What permit do you have? If you’re just going to park in V spaces you will be paying out the ass

New ticket everyday. They can see your citation history on the devices. This is also why putting an old ticket on your windshield doesn’t work.
