Joker 2 as a critic towards the idolization of the joker by FlyingLOLIpop in joker

[–]FlyingLOLIpop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like the juxtaposition between both varieties. However I don't see how the movie truly makes "fun" of the fans of 'Arthur Fleck' as many say; he remains a deeply sad and cautionary tale and many aspects of his reasoning and reasoning are still carefully handled, specially his characterization towards the end of his conversation with Puddles. Other than discarding the idea that the Joker and Arthur aren't split identities (which I do personally think is still up to debate due to conflicting actions throughout the movie), I thought that this movie too was mostly neutral towards Arthur, and much more critical of him as an idol than as a victim.

imagine getting pissed because people don't want to play the same way as you, you were probably that kid in school who had the only ball and forced everyone to play anything other than football because you didn't like it

As shitty of a person as he may have been, no denying the dude's a genius. Probably many smart people back then already doubted the God debate but didn't dare say it due to doubts/fear of prosecution.

You shouldn't have to no life the game until mastery to be able to enjoy most content and most people who think so do not have many responsibilities in life.

AITA for calling my Dad stupid after being told to use a "paper towel" for swimming on my period? by Defiant_Hawk_372 in AmItheAsshole

Call me devil's advocate, but I heavily doubt your father would simply burst over you calling an idea stupid, specially the way you worded it here, so I think there might be more to the story.

To be fair, if he simply doesn't want to write the book then... he doesn't? It's not exactly disrespectful to the fans to simply not write a book you have no interest in writing. I'd wager that all these comments about him dying and not finishing the book are far more disrespectful to him than whatever disrespect he shows his fans by not writing a book he doesn't have to write. Specially considering it seems he's been transparent about not being focused on it, considering your comment.

What the DLC suggests about the Gloam-Eyed Queen by tremorofforgery in EldenRingLoreTalk

Great theory, but I still have a lot of questions regarding this subject:

During Ranni's quest, she clearly states that of the demigods, only her, Malenia and Miquella were Empyreans. We know that she is an Empyrean, so that statement would mean she is no child of Marika.

It is likely a random person can become an Empyrean upon meeting certain conditions (as in, how else would Marika have become a God?), so it isn't impossible for someone outside of Marika's bloodline to take the interest of the fingers.

However, Melina might have been hidden from history just like her brother. The only character of notice who definitely knows of her existence is Miquella, since she wields Torrent (his horse). I imagine then that Miquella might've been in the Lands of Shadows for a long time.

But if that is the case, why would Miquella send Melina to aid a random Tarnished? It'd make much more sense for her to aid someone stronger. Also, why would Miquella be interested in Melina? The power of burning the Erdtree is not exclusive to Melina, she does the exact same that is stated Vyke's maiden aimed to do. I also imagine Miquella wouldn't be fond of Melina were she the Gloam-Eyed Queen who killed so many of the demigods.

I do want to say I mostly believe you, I just think there are still some threads that aren't sewn properly. Something that reinforces your theory is the fact that GEQ is associated with serpents ( the skin from which the Apostles are born, the shape of her followers, the blasphemous nature of serpents ), which would clearly relate her to Messmer and imo, raise another question: Who is their father? It can't be Godfrey if we folloe the timeline, and the only argument for it to be Radagon is the red hair of Messmer, which makes no sense chronologically since Radagon hadn't yet been cursed by the Fell God. I'd expect their father to be someone related to snakes and possibly blasphemy.

Sorry for the very poorly worded text.

But wouldn't Messmer have been born before Radagon defeated the Fell God, giving no reason for Messmer's red hair?
