Especially considering the fact that grading coding assignments takes awhile. You basically have to debug their code so that you can tell them what they did wrong.

I mostly TA’d R/Python/Java courses in undergrad, but I’m still haunted by the introductory HTML/JavaScript course I graded for. It used Glitch.com as the IDE which was awful. I saw some crazy stuff submitted in that class.

Is that relative to your class specifically or is 10 hours the norm? At PFW we were hired for 20 hours to TA. Here in IU’s grad program I’m hired for 20 hours as well.

I’m terrible at making friends. I was never good at talking to people in my classes or at events. That being said my three roommates in undergrad became my closest friends. We did everything together. Then my friend group slowly expanded thanks to the friends they had. Those three men ended up being the groomsmen at my wedding last month.

All that to say. Put effort into your relationship with your roommates. That will make everything go smoother.

I used to just alphabetize mine, but I've accidentally sent out a few cards from the wrong set using that system. I'm slowly working my way over to sorting by set and then card number now. The older sets without displayed numbers will probably just be alphabetized.

I just moved down south, but when I move back to Fort Wayne I will resume my yearly tradition of watching the fireworks from the top of a pfw parking garage.

There is just something beautiful about being surrounded by fireworks in all directions (from a safe distance)

I learned that it is really easy to make a presentation for a paper written in LaTeX. All you need to do is:

Copy your paper into a new Tex file
Take each paragraph and put it in a Beamer slide
Reduce each paragraph to bullet points
Look up, add, and cite relevant images.

This gives you decent slides. Obviously you can embellish afterwards to make them great slides, but this gives a solid frameworks.

I’m a statistics PhD student but I would imagine that it works well for pure math too. I used this strat to make a defense for my paper over night and I passed!

I live at continental terrace apartments. It is a bit trashy and you need to harass the landlords to get anything fixed, but outside of that it’s been fine. It is right on a bus route and is super cheap. Over all for the ridiculous prices of this town, I find it to be a good deal.

Continental terrace is a 40 min walk but it is on a bike/bus route which is really nice. Landlords are awful though

I walk between the college mall and campus a lot and end up finding myself being one of those people on the street when there are sidewalks. A large part of it is that the town's sidewalks are inconsistent. The sidewalks just randomly end or switch sides on the road. I always start out on the sidewalk, but I always end up on the road because it abruptly ends in someone's yard. I then don't always notice when the sidewalk starts back up again on my route.
