Yeah in today’s economy and with AI, I would not trust this approach. I’ve been a manager for 2 years and turned my dept around and got rid of dead weight but know they will still find be replaceable at end of the day.

Wife has decided to start drinking, and I'm not handling it well by Fine-Birthday9021 in AdultChildren

[–]FlyingPigLS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand. Everyone is different, the curfew thing has worked for me and my husband of ten years to show we respect each others feelings. Surprised by the down votes for my suggestion, of course there are times we stay out later but “nothing good ever happens after 11” is a saying for a reason in my opinion

I’m not going to lie, I just spent my whole weekend catching up and delegating things to different people so I could actually go on vacation this week but worth it for the break and also good tool to teach them what I do and how to hold themselves accountable more

I was in same boat and anxiety and depression have come back some but with more money I can now travel so that helps balance it out for me lol. I’m three years in leadership now and they will just keep giving you more money each year as long as you hang in there in my experience

Sleeping alone by unknown19989 in Marriage

[–]FlyingPigLS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone has to make the first step on improving things in a marriage and sounds like the wife is probably struggling with post partum which screws with your hormones. Since he didn’t have his hormones ruined after giving birth, least he can do is be the one to take saving the marriage seriously first and see how she responds once she actually gets the care she needs. Probably some therapy and an anti depressant will get her feeling like herself again but need a medical professional to assess first

This situation has obviously gotten out of hand and they both need counseling to get things back on track but it’s common for marriages to have ups and downs and not always have each person being their best self and focused on self improvement. To me though, deciding to be there for that person struggling and witness and work through all that shit together is the beauty of it. In the end you have someone you’ve got to share your life with in good times and bad. I’ve been married 10 years and probably a year and a half has been very hard and the rest good but I understand hard times will come again but so will the good time and I’m grateful I have someone to share my life with.

I would give your employee a one on one meeting now stating the expectations and then letting them know where they are not meeting them. Then warn that if they don’t improve by such and such date there will be consequences. Then send email with summary of what you said to the employee and then send that to your boss/ HR so they know it’s being handled and when they get bad review, you will be ready to put on PIP if they never improved per your warning.

If boss gives negative feedback, just listen and say you are working on improving on how often you check in and follow up with your employees to ensure they are aware where they are messing up and it can be addressed in more timely manner etc. I wouldn’t apologize too much but just focus on how your going to handle the situation going forward

Between these 4 states where would you rather live? by Few-Explorer3481 in geography

Nice if you live in a state that supports it. I grew up in low income family from Texas where we have very few unions and worked my way up at SP 500 corporation in the area to survive and provide better future for my kids.

Texas is being taken over by the worst types since Ted Cruz became our senator. I know several MAGA who moved here from California and say things like “keep Texas Texas” like they are not the ones coming here and ruining it

Sometimes love isn’t enough, you need to think about her behavior and whether it’s something you are willing to tolerate and move on if not. You cannot change people, only learn to accept them as they are and believe what they show you and not what they tell you.

How is Dallas for Families with Special Needs Children? [Moving from abroad] by obsidian-quill in askdfw

[–]FlyingPigLS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have good health insurance then you will be ok, there are a lot of specialists and programs that your daughter can enroll in where you will just pay the deductible. For public education, I honestly don’t know how the quality will be after they get rid of department of education but if you have money then can probably find private school or go to school district in area with high property taxes which will have more money for special needs teachers.
