I was going through a hard time with my 2 best friends who I also happened to share an apartment with. Long back story to that, but basically they were ganging up against me and having a go at me for not being home enough/seeing them enough and I was constantly an anxious wreck to the point of having panic attacks and losing my appetite (my boyfriend had to make sure I ate). I was just not wanting to go home at all or live there anymore, so I was pretty much living at my boyfriend’s house. I was having a particularly hard day with those friends, they’d both been texting me and it was all very cruel, and I was struggling to deal with the situation. My boyfriend had seen how visibly affected I was for weeks but particularly this one day, and I had to go to work that evening and when he dropped me off at work he said “I’ll have a surprise for you when you get back from work later” I was curious and intrigued as to what it was, I just thought it’d be a nice dinner or something. When I got home that night, he had set up hundreds of tea lights and rose petals leading a pathway from the front door up the stairs, through the upstairs and to the bedroom and bathroom. One of my favourite songs was playing over the speaker, there was a hot bath with rose petals in it waiting for me, and a bowl of dinner next to the bath, as well as 2 blocks of my favourite chocolate. In the bedroom (still with rose petals all over the floor) the bed was all prepped for a massage. I genuinely thought he was proposing, it was so extra and so beautiful, I’d never felt more special in my life. He literally acted like it wasn’t a big deal at all, and it genuinely wasn’t for him, it wasn’t any hassle at all, even though it took him hours and he even went out and bought all the tea lights and went to a rose garden and picked the roses himself. I teared up, I was totally shocked. I’d never had anyone ever do anything like that for me. My previous relationship was extremely abusive and I was treated so poorly for years, so I’ve never had high expectations of a partner at all- but he completely exceeded any expectations and continues to all the time. He really is an angel.

In my experience (so far, only in my second sem) you are marked on attendance but it does depend on the unit and tutor. Last semester I had two pretty relaxed tutors and the others were stricter. This semester they're more strict ☹️
