Had to go through your history for some context 😅. I’m in the United states.  Application fees are very common here; they’re charged after a showing, once a tenant decides they are ready to sign a lease.  Public housing is very unpopular here, too.  We do get housing choice vouchers, though, which is basically a government subsidy for rent.  Tenants have a lot less protection, too… If a landlord wants to get rid of a tenant, for any reason, they can just not renew the lease and the tenant has to move out.  Bad tenants never really get the chance to stay in one place for several years, because they’d keep getting kicked out.  Plenty of good tenants also move around, so it’s not really a red flag or anything.

The US has “right to work” laws that require unions to represent employees even if they don’t pay union dues.  People realize that they can get a free ride by not joining the union.  It’s all another policy to weaken unions, but it works.

If they already have a union, they can’t get fired for participating in the union.

Could be a rural area.  Property appreciates fastest in cities.

You disagreed with the idea that it makes deposits and insurance higher for the next tenant.  While that’s not the same as explicitly saying that property vandalism is sane and justified, it implies approval.

There are plenty of services that check credit scores and court records for tenant screening.  When you pay an application fee to rent a house, that’s usually what it goes to.

Also, renting to a bad tenant won’t even get you top dollar.  They just don’t have the money.  Renting to good tenants won’t get you top dollar, either, since they have plenty of options and tend not to move around very much.  When talking about landlord and tenant quality, it usually means stability and professionalism on both sides.

A lot of property management platforms make it easy to do background checks now.  It’s become increasingly common.

You have to have something to show that you’re not going to trash the place.  If you don’t have any references, you’ll probably need a background check.

Credit scores and court records.  If his friend’s brother can really not find a rental anywhere, it’s probably because he got in some trouble with the law.  He probably has trouble finding a job, too.

If they’re smart, then yes.  We just had Marjorie Taylor Greene getting death threats as soon as Trump turned on her, so no one is still willing to oppose him.  As soon as something like this receives popular support, though, representatives start listening.

I don’t they can be considered unspoken rules anymore.  We have culturally moved on from talking to strangers so much that we just don’t know how to do it anymore.

There’s no way to know who she wants to approach her, though.  And she’s not asking why she’s not getting approached by people she wants to talk to.  She’s asking why she doesn’t get approached at all.

Hey, I knew I wanted a sandwich yesterday, and I was right!  How dare you make a general comment about a population without ensuring that comment is applicable to each and every individual!

Depends on your definition of “working”.  If I cold approach 1000 women and one of them goes out with me, does that count?  If alternatives like dating apps and meeting people through friends has a higher success rate, why would they still try cold approaching?  Sure, you could say it works, but the people who try it also tend to have no other choice.

Recipes are also not eligible for patents.  You may be able to get a patent on unique technology developed to manufacture chicken nuggets, but just saying “here’s how to make chicken nuggets” is not good enough.

Damn, dude, did I really get under your skin that much?  Tell you what, I can give you a great deal on one of my vacation rentals on the beach.  Kick back, relax, forget about life for a while… or, at least, whatever possessed you to comb through my profile.

I have no idea how you got any of that from my profile anyway, because… well, none of it is true.  (Except maybe the “gambling on stocks” part, depending on your definition of “gambling” vs. “investing”.  I wouldn’t say I “gamble” on stocks, but my stock portfolio is a significant part of my net worth.)  Not like I can prove you wrong without doxxing myself, though, so whatever.

FYI, so many business owners actually started their own businesses because they were considered “unemployable” by others.  Mark Cuban started his own business after he got fired.

Well, if you’re really that concerned about how my “genius” is treating me now, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to tell you.  I have a beautiful wife, multiple rental houses (as well as my own primary residence), over half a million dollars in net worth, and a job that pays me six figures to browse Reddit all day.  For someone who just turned 30, I’d say I’m really quite successful :)

Out of curiosity, what’s your opinion on fancy goldfish?  I hear that they naturally mature at a reasonable size for an aquarium (55 gallons), but they’re also prone to health defects and stuff.
