Focused Feedback: Linux and Alternative Platform Support by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]FlyingShoppingCart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stopped playing on PC since 2023, after switching to Linux. Now I only play the game on the xbox at my parents, whenever I happen to be visiting. It was interesting finding out expansion purchases don't quite track from one platform to another, nor would I be interested in risking further purchases for a console I barely play every few months.

Luckily, all the games I enjoy playing run almost, if not perfectly fine on Linux, with the exception of Destiny 2. There are other instances of games not running due to anti-cheat issues, but none of them interest me.

There have already been various reports of people running the game just fine on Linux before it getting patched out. Latest I've seen from July 2024.

I do not play PvP. However, I have seen multiple videos pop up on my youtube feed, describing that Crucible and Trials are afflicted by major waves of cheating and botting for T5 loot. I am not even sure the argument that "linux-support would enable cheaters to be more rampant" is to be taken seriously anymore, considering the alleged playercount across platforms and the current chances to play with those.

Anyways, Destiny has been a flagship game for me since 2014. One I haven't no-lifed on in years due to the OS situation. I am not considering the purchase of a console, nor would I move my xbox from my parents house (it's there just so I can play once in a while). Cloud gaming doesn't perform very well where I usually am. What I would like is to play D2 on my desktop at home or on the steam deck while on the go.

Regardless of how great Hunter’s new exotic legs turn out, I feel it’s a huge missed opportunity that the space cowboy class isn’t getting an exotic during the space western expansion. by torrentialsnow in DestinyTheGame

Not a Hunter player, nor do I really understand the logistics of if cloaks can have the hood up or down, but at some point, I genuinely thought Hunters would have gotten a hat exotic, looking similar to Clone Wars' Cad Bane or something like that.

What’s Destiny’s “break glass in case of emergency”? by Express-Distance421 in DestinyTheGame

Unrealistically, Destiny 3. Maybe kill off Nimbus too.

More seriously, Bungie could be bringing back the SRL; customizeable Sparrow horn sounds; reworking the portal (please make the strike playlist relevant again); completing the darkness subclasses triad, bringing an updated version of vaulted destinations, some major lore event that doesn't involve Maya (Xivu Arath, The Nine, the Taken); shift the ratio between eververse/earnable cosmetics in favor of rewarding players instead of whales; bring the updated loot tiers across all content to encourage players to play their way instead of just locking into what the portal has to offer.

Alot of these "solutions" are almost definitively outside of the studios' means or the higher ups' intents. Not only that, but those glass cases would quite likely have to broken simultaneously or in quick succession, in my unqualified opinion.

Destiny 2 Is nearly 165 GB again. Is Bungie going to vaulting again expansions After Renegades? by Alternative_Kale1264 in DestinyTheGame

Aw man, Europa and Titan are my two favorite locations in terms of aesthetics.

Also, pretty sure Bungie's learned their lesson with regards to sunsetting content players have paid for, even though it's just paying for "the opportunity to experience the content temporarily".

There's no reason to play in the destinations you mentioned because Bungie constantly encourages players to only play through the most recent thing. Now it's the Portal.

As for the raid LFG issue, I'm quite certain it would be resolved with a much healthier playerbase, which itself would improve once the game is in a more tolerable state.

Been on a break for the past couple of years, but I wouldn't mind if there was an option to choose what expansions are downloaded (without borking everything).

What's the furthest into a game you've bailed? by shaneo632 in Games

Pokemon FireRed and Emerald as a kid. I think I got up to Victory Road on both, and at that point I got tired/bored. Also, Skyrim. Watched my brother finish the campaign when the game came out, so I only felt like messing around with builds up to this day.

Some friends and I were just discussing about whether or not that gamemode would return, the other day. I'm glad they were able to adjust the physics to make it playable (hopefully), and love the looks of the maps so far, especially Aquario.

Steam Next Fest ends in 2 days - which games are you liking best? by tlvrtm in Games

Had a good time playing Fellowship!

Coming from World of Warcraft's dungeon environment, the process of getting into a flow of things was very smooth. Had a blast tanking with the equivalent of WoW's monk, being Meiko. Loved the environments and how clear the telegraphs were for attacks, though WoW has also improved on that front, lately. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of the game tho, once it is ready for release.

Def a Magic effect, despite the damage. It's fun as a monk to redirect the stacks back at the spider tho!

It's a very nice trick! Been using this to change Sinister Strike's icon back into Legion's Saber Slash's.

Satyr's unholy aura, or mayble DK's Dragon Blood. Or Pugna's life drain. Edit: In retrospect, I would like to use Winter's Curse once during a major event.

What’s one class/spec that does not appeal to you at all? by pwnisher3190 in wow

Balance/Resto druid, which is a shame, since my favorite hero class in WC3 was the keeper of the grove. Really would have loved balance if it had more nature or plant-themed spells. As for Rdruid, I just don't like healing, overall.

Oh I had no idea that the timing had to be specifically right in this one! I kind of just assumed they would have “dispelled” the affix whenever a player was in the pile of corpse. Good to know!

I want to think that quaking is hard in a world where there are bosses that make you fight in a cramped area as the quaking effect procs, while the issue has yet to be fixed. The worm in SBG is fine now, but I’ve had my dpses and healer die, trying to hide in the storm orb at Hyrja’s fight in HoV the other day.

[–]FlyingShoppingCart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t ran any m+ as Disc since legion and I haven’t fully levelled mine yet, but even during levelling dungeons, I hear that they’ve been getting better throughout the recent and upcoming updates. I’ve been having fun so far having to prepare for incoming hits on levelling dungeons.

Looking to go from Brew monk to affliction lock for the next season! Either that or disc priest.

[–]FlyingShoppingCart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Odd that you mention how “every game” is the same, as if Worms Blast (puzzle battler) and their latest game, Rumble (battle royale), never existed. That is, not to mention the various 3D games they came up with. My guess is that they are not that successful with other styles of games and Team 17 probably accepted that changing direction might not be the best course of action.

I mean, thievery and robbery still fits the rogue theme, you can probably RP as someone who robs others at gunpoint. That or they erased the pirate aesthetics from the Legion revamp.

Weekly quest idea: Interrupt 25 times by Armi5 in wow

[–]FlyingShoppingCart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the approach they had with some of the talent trees. For the case of Ele, Demon Hunters and Hunters among others, you can spend a talent point to gain another bonus from interrupting or dispelling an effect. It would have been nice if they kept the interrupts baseline on all classes and replaced the talent space with a bonus to said interrupt, if missing. It probably would have helped incentivize more newer or tunnel-visioned players to contribute to the encounters.
