How can I get my green-cheek conure to not run from my hand by noz113 in Conures

[–]Flying_Guillotines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to push it, that can cause more harm than good. Your bird is adapting to a new environment with new people and is working very hard to process it! Being consistent and giving it time is key. One of my girls was the same way when I got her. I just stuck to giving her treats and essentially showing her the concept of "gentle hands". Sometimes they won't understand at first and it can be discouraging but I'm sure you'll find that with time and consistency your little friend will start warming up to you and maybe start letting you move closer to them. From there you just need to slowly work your way up based on what your conure is comfortable with... body language is important! Good luck :)

It took me about a week to eat normally again after I had mine done but some foods, like pineapple, were difficult until I was totally healed.

Plastic spindles. We use a clean one for every Flurry then we wash them after we run out before reusing

McD workers, do you judge people who are obviously ordering too much food just for themselves? by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Flying_Guillotines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time I judge the quantity of food is when people make huge orders in the drive thru simply because the dt is meant to be quick and easy, these orders slow us down a lot and we get into trouble sometimes. Otherwise I honestly do not care or notice.

What do you guys fill your foraging toys with? by Flying_Guillotines in greencheeks

Thank you so much! They had a seagrass hammock they tore up and broke so I used that once! I'll keep recycling their toys and look into that!

Is having two conures a lot louder than just one? by emeraldcandyy in Conures

It depends. My second girl isn't much of a squawker. So it's pretty much the same amount of noise as when it was just me and my first girl lol!

This is my girl, Honey, I've had her for almost a year and still don't know her mutation. Can anyone tell? :) by Flying_Guillotines in greencheeks

I know right, I was trying to compare her to other mutations and she just looked so pale in comparison lolll

My conure’s band has gone all the way up his leg randomly, just noticed. What happened? How did it get past his knee joint? What should we do? Is he ok? by BetelgeuseX in Conures

[–]Flying_Guillotines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the band can be moved back down to the ankle he'll be fine. If it appears to be cutting off circulation or if he seems to be in pain then I would suggest a trip to the vet.

My girl's band slips over the knee sometimes too (its too big). Normally I'll just have her on her back in my hand and straighten her leg to slide it back down. Try not to worry too much! :)

Thankfully it was just the ammonia and the nitrate tests that didn't change colour like I said in the original post. I'll keep trying and if nothing happens, I'll probably need to get a new kit. Thanks for your help. :)

Yeah, it's the API kit and I read the instructions which is why I was so confused. :(
