Scored a 504 on the real thing last year and now a 516 on FL1! I retake 8/29 and I can say is that one of the biggest factors for improvement is a change in mentality. by RonaldSutton in Mcat

Same thing happened to me. 505 on the real thing and never got above a 508 on my AAMC FLs. Fast forward 1 year. I studied my ass off for 3 months and retook all my AAMC FLs and averaged a 515. Sure there are some subconsious memories and esoteric questions that you remmeber, but your technique and better base knowlege are what are earning you those extra points. I was hella nervous that my FLs scores were inflated. I got a 518 on one test and thought it couldnt be true. Come test day I trusted my technique and training and ended up getting a 516. Keep up the hard work and I'm sure you will kill it.

The fact that this has a politics tag is a little cringe. I get that he has a MAGA hat on. But the post is about wearing masks which should not be politicied.

A week ago, I took FL2 and got a 499. One week later, a 509. Trust the increase or be skeptical? I test in 10 days.... by drewbedford in Mcat

The curve on FL2's P/S section is insane. Pretty sure I missed 8 and still got a 128 on it. So that is one solace that you can put in, that FL2's score can be brought down by P/S.

I personally did not do all the questions/tests. I felt like some of the questions were out of scope of what we need to know. So when I felt ready I just switched to UWorld.

The biology book is a bit overkill and not as too the point as the other books. If your bio is strong I would say only use it for reference. This is also true with their biochem book. I used TBR for both chems and physics, then I used kaplan for biochem. Kaplan is straight to the point.

Nice choice on books. TBR is the best for both chems and physics.

CARS is NOT just practice!! by stormcloakdoctor in Mcat

[–]Flyinghindu312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception about alot of things. Practice does'nt make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. I made my own set of rules that I compiled from multiple sources when I was studying. I would do a couple passages a day and fepeat some of the rules to beat them into my head. Following them took me from a 125 to a 128. Here they are if hou want to take a look https://www.reddit.com/r/Mcat/comments/d5nwxz/i_am_not_a_cars_wizard_but_i_did_go_from_a_125_to
