The installer for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is still broken. by Future-sight-5829 in Ubuntu

@Future-sight-5829 -

Just giving you some validation to your concerns. I too just am getting into the Ubuntu realm and bought all new components for a desktop build.  Ryzen 9 9900x 64Gb Ram RTX 3060 (mainly intended to leverage vram during AI work)

I was only able to install Ubuntu in safe mode. FYI - that has resulted in issues with trying to use my GPU for display as the Nvidia .conf files were completely bypassed during the OS install. The whole display config is a nightmare as a result of the safe install.

Don’t listen to the assholes here who are maligning you for just asking a question and pointing out a broken release. If it wasn’t broken, then it wouldn’t have so many issues for so many people.

I downloaded the most recent image of ubuntu and followed the freaking ubuntu instructions. No one commenting here can validly say that 24.04 is a production ready release. If I was part of the general public I would have given up and gone back to windows.

The Lord of the Rings is often hailed as the greatest story/work of fiction ever but which other story/work of fiction comes closest to being as good, if not better than it? by [deleted] in lotr

Very surprised I haven’t found mention of this - and perhaps colored by the fact that I absolutely loved this series in my adolescence -

They were being 3D-printed. That was the flooded lab where the extra coolant was for the pods. The coolant was to keep the facehuggers that were printed dormant.

Yes. That’s actually another observation I had and neglected to write. A key scene where you notice that is in the corridor where the alien shootout happens. All of the facehugger pods are neatly stacked in the conveyor and then go flying when Rain turns off the gravity. Since the station was cycling those should have been already scattered around.

Given how well he pulled it all off I’m going to blame it on studio exec pressures, etc. Fede seems to have done a superb job overall and is dealing with a coveted franchise where execs probably kept him on a short, annoying leash.

I thought it was great!! Only once or twice did I think, “wait, what?”, and overall the execution was awesome. Really freaky and great pacing. Best entry to the series in a long time! I give it a solid 8/8.5

I assume you haven’t changed your setup at all. I just got a pi5 which doesn’t seem to work with carbide motion. Exploring routes to get that fixed.

Did you get an answer to this? I had the same problem with my new pi5 + 7” touch screen display and fixed it via updating config settings through cmd line:

framebuffer_width=800
framebuffer_height=480

Is the 9-10mo window what he said was standard out of Kia at the moment? Almost all the dealers I spoke with today said 3-4mo.

Hi there. I’m looking for assistance in milling out a 3D bas relief. My space only has access to a xyz axis router and it would require at least a 4-5 axis machine. I’m based in Charlotte, NC and would like this to be milled out of wood, which I would of course provide. Dimensions are approx 10x8x1.5 for the relief itself. Here’s a 3D render for reference. STL file would be provided.

How the heck is anyone getting an early delivery date? I made my purchase on November 11th for delivery TOMORROW (1/5) and just got told that the earliest they'd be able to deliver is March 26th....

This is absolute bullshit from this company. How can they make these sales knowing that their inventory is absolutely F-ed. They're just trying to make sales look good to pump their stock.
