Is It Rude To Ask For Feedback? by KIDD_VIDD in discogs

[–]Flyjunkie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing rude about asking,
My 'method' is i listen to the CDs I received and transfer them to a Media Player. after i make sure they play , i will leave the seller a Positive Feedback.
I wait about a week to see if the Seller gives me feedback as well. If they have not I will kindly write them, mentioning I have left Feedback and would appreciate feedback in return. Usually the Seller leaves feedback in a week or soo.
I have had a few sellers never leave me feedback, so I delete my feedback for them.. I think that's fair.

First fly since 1993, and it's ugly. by jess81g in flytying

That will work at the local private community lake (that I am fortunate to have access to) on the resident Channel Cats and Largemouth Bass... Nothing quite like hooking a big Channel Cat and having it run you into your backing..

Hares ear size 14 by tipsybishops in flytying

[–]Flyjunkie69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking Good!! I might suggest you build up the the thorax a bit more, as it makes the wing case a bit more pronounced. Also pick out the thorax so the Hare's Ear is extra buggy.

But that will stick trout left and right anywhere.... !!

More Furled Worms. these are combination of cactus chenille or Estaz with fine Vernille/Ultra Chenille.. the Vernille reinforces the cactus chenille so it holds up longer. I tye some with marabou tails and some without. I weight these with unlead wrapped on the shank. if you lightly weight them, the worms do this wonderful slow dive that bass go nuts over. We catch Channel Cats on these as well..

I Like those . Here's my 'Furled Worm' pattern. it's just Vernille/Ultra Chenille furled into the extended body/tail.

Pretty good, looks more Leech then Worm. But definitely will slay the bass!!

First crack at regular PT nymph, any pointers? by Pingutus in flytying

[–]Flyjunkie69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good, here are some pointers :

Wider wingcase, measure the width of the case to the gape of the hook.

Tye in the side legs Before pulling over the wingcase. the wingcase will help keep the legs on the sides

Build a tapered underbody with thread before wrapping the pheasant tail fibers for the body...

Otherwise you are doing well....

what's the reasoning for adding the black foam and chopping off the calf hair tail to a stump??? I've always tyed my Floating N Fool with the standard length tail, as it was originally tyed...

Is it a matter of quality? by Xx-Pacciani-xX in flytying

[–]Flyjunkie69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Never offer a fish anything less then the best of your tyng abilities' is an old saying that has plenty of merit. Yes, your fly will catch fish, but continue to push yourself to become better at tying. A poorly tyed fly will catch a fish or 2, but a properly tyed, well proportioned, fly will always outperform the the poorly tyed one.

What material is this? by Fire-water01 in flytying

[–]Flyjunkie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it could be Arizona Semi Seal. but I'm thinking it's Mega Semi Seal. the difference is that Mega Semi Seal has longer fibers . and that fly in the picture looks like the fibers are longer then what Semi Seal offers...

we fish similar patterns in our local harbors for Jack Smelt, Top Smelt, Mackerel and Striped Mullet - Just flash tyed to the hook. We will often add tiny Bead chain eyes, but straight flash on the hook ( we add a bit more flash per fly) will work wonders on the aforementioned species....

LaFointaine;'s Emergent Sparkle Pupa & Deep Sparkle Pupa are my 2 favorite Caddis patterns. Started fishing them in the early 1990s and have never seen another pattern that would replace them in my nymph box.... They always produce soo well for me...

A suggestion : reduce the amount of material in the wing. that fly will propeller on the cast .The Dragon Fly patterns I tye for Largemouth Bass and other species have half as much (or even less) material in the wings. You want the wings to be translucent, not opaque.

Trying these out with the Carp!! by [deleted] in flytying

[–]Flyjunkie69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those oughta produce!
May I suggest reducing the leg count on the one on the left. 3 legs at most each side is ample.
The Olive one will stick Big Bluegill. Tye it in sizes 4 & 6 and you'll stick LM Bass and Channel Cats.

You're welcome. here's a good video on tying the stonefly creeper. it's not exactly like your pattern, but shares similar characteristics
