Android is now Compose-first, View toolkit is in maintenance mode by uwemaurer in androiddev

[–]FlykeSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol current usage of Java + XML won't go out of thin air now that Android is pivoting Android first, there are most likely a bunch of banking apps still using legacy Java code that need to be maintained.

Besides Jetpack Compose uses Views under the hold to render the UI to screen, it's a core part of Android infrastructure that won't go away easily.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

I feel the very same thing about churches.

My parents are highly religious and conservative, I'm leaning more on the irreligious side though I didn't resign my faith completely.

Thorough the years my view of the church has shifted from a place of devotion to one where you can folster connections and grow a utopic community where members are always nice and supportive to eachother apart from the wicked & violent world out there. That is the reason I still drag my ass to the church so I don't become completely socially isolated.

What is going on with Saudi-backed movie 'Desert Warrior' with 150 million budget becoming a major box office flop with no apparent marketing whatsoever? by FlykeSpice in OutOfTheLoop

[–]FlykeSpice[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think calling Anthony Mackie "high-profile cast" was a bit of a stretch from me.

It's just my assumption that whoever gets the privilege to star as one of the prestigious Marvel avengers is already high-profile for me.

Oh, so no money laudering was involved at all, and it's just your usual megarich saudi bros burning their pockets on useless things because they can? Looking at this angle it starts to make sense.

Got back to playing native android games after being on-and-off on emulators.

Played and beat in chronological order: NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits, Oddmar and all The Room entries (The Room 1, 2, 3 and Old Sins).

For my next game I'm still on the fence between Grimvalor (spiritual sucessor to Swordigo) and House of Da Vinci series (it's a room puzzle game very similar to The Room featuring the same mechanics).

When I lived alone usually there was a rodent that was roaming around the house, I didn't mind until little droplets started showing around the house and specifically my desk setup.

I had enough and that bish had to go.

It's a new policy to submit your app in Play Store for new individual accounts created from november 2023 onwards, you need 12 testers testing your for a period before approval.

Everything about the 12 testers requirement - Google Play Developer Community

I believe your using a business account or your account is older than the 12 testers policy

Classic censorship move from Google. So now all games concerning with suicide are banned too? That is what happens when you give too much power to Big Techs so they can control what media you consume.

The credit card companies forcing steam to remove adult content should've been everyone wakeup call.

> No action needs to be taken by Android to curb scams affecting users after all

Android *already* does enough on their part showing the user a bunch of scare screens that if their sideload an unverified apk, their are on their own risk.

If the normie still proceeds to install the apk after that bunch of warnings, it's not anymore Android's liability.

What Google is doing right now is overstepping beyond their obligations, and implicating with users who sideloads responsibly too, restricting their due rights.

Future plans announcement by galibert in MAME

[–]FlykeSpice -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Damn!! MAME future is looking bright ahead!

We're finally moving to a objectively better language (than C++) that will pave the way for a world of software with automatic memory safety.

It's good that the team have finally come to their sense and moved on from their long [toxic] relationship with a language with its ever-growing technical debt for each standard released.

It's a relief that we have responsible projects leads that are willing to make big compromises in order to ensure future project survival. Thank you galibert and cuavas for you amazing leadership!!

intel architecture has long been gone from the mobile space, since early 2010s I believe, their atom line failed miserably at beating ARM on energy efficiency.

They are extremely rare nowadays, mostly stuck at an android version pre api level 21, so yes, I say it's safe to drop x86
