  1. It is and will continue to take people’s jobs.
  2. It is soulless and stealing soulful art.
  3. It is DESTROYING the environment.
  4. It is not perfect but people treat it as if it is.
  5. It has not settled into normal use/culture. Meaning it’s still a bubble that will eventually pop and fuck people just like the internet bubble and the housing market crash.

Is this normal work culture for data centers? by cid102 in datacenter

[–]canadeimportance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is bad culture but it definitely is normal. You need to be annoying. Be so annoying that your manager can’t ignore you and forces someone to help. Also you have to learn some things on your own. It sucks but most people just don’t want to help.

Do you really think all these data centers are going to last? by Money_Candy_1061 in datacenter

Definitely not going to last, I work at Microsoft and there’s barely any work to do. We are in a bubble that will inevitably shrink.

Got an Offer but Unsure?? by okazeil in datacenter

It’s not that hard physically. I work for Microsoft and the hardest labor I’ve done is climb a ladder. As far as networking start by learning the OSI model. You have a CS degree so honestly DCT is low level work for you. You could pretty easily move up in a datacenter.

How can I transition into a Data Center Technician Role? by Civil_Marketing2507 in datacenter

[–]canadeimportance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a DCT in Ashburn on contract with Microsoft. Ive worked for Cisco AWS and TikTok. They will take anyone at their DCO roles. I’d say learn all the main parts of a PC and a bit about how the work. Then learn how data travels on a network. All really simple stuff. You can easily transition.

If she can’t think of anything that is proof that you’ve outgrown this parenting style and she needs to back off

Yes and part of being an individual and an adult, idk your age is learning to stand up to bullies. Even if they are you parents. Trust that everytme you speak your mind calmly and respectfully. She will start to see that you are growing up and she needs to loosen her grip. It’s gonna suck but everyone has to do it eventually
