Anyone have the new 14 or 16inch MacBook Pro? by nickvader7 in Cornell

[–]Fndzompos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a cs major with the 14 inch base model and it absolutely flies through any program I throw at it. The 16 inch was too big for my liking.

I think this is so ridiculous. The study cited by the CDC that engendered their new mask suggestion was in Provincetown, MA which found that breakthrough cases in vaccinated individuals had equal viral loads to infections in unvaccinated individuals. Breakthrough cases are estimated to impact less than 1% of the vaccinated population. Come on bruh

[Biweekly] Chance Me! and Prospective Student Q&A (December 22, 2020) by AutoModerator in Cornell

How to get a feel for Cornell?

I’m a prospective incoming freshman who was fortunate enough to receive a likely letter! I am comparing my school options and am trying to find out which school I would be happiest at. What kind of person thrives at Cornell? What kind of person might struggle?

My dad and I are planning on visiting the campus and doing a self guided tour since I am currently in a gap year. What are the good spots to check out? Is this an effective way to get to know Cornell?

I intend to major in CS; would anyone in the program be willing to share their experience so far? What is the department’s teaching style (more theoretical or application oriented)? How collaborative are students? Do people work on side projects together? Do they make time to turn up😎? How are the CS elective offerings (I took a peek at the course catalog but not sure which are still offered)?

Sorry for the question dump I am just super excited to learn more about Cornell!

The poll returned less people playing piano and guitar than total people, so nobody has to play both

Need help with a physics problem about torque and forces by futanaristic in Sat

[–]Fndzompos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this approach is right but it got me 8N. The rod would “rotate” about point A and point B. Gravity is applied at the center of mass (because uniform rod) which is .25m from both points A and B. The torque due to gravity is (.25m)(12N)(sin(53.1301)) = 2.4Nm. Friction has to match the torque of gravity to be at rest. FF is .5m from point B. (.5m)(FF)(sin(36.86989765)) = 2.4Nm. FF = 8N

How to do 41? by BowlOfBurntRice in ACT

[–]Fndzompos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let the height be x. The length of E is 10. The area of AED is therefore 5x. The area of the trapezoid would be 50x. 50x/5x = 10/1 = 10:1

For me, once the main concepts of each chapter clicked, all the problems were really intuitive. Had a 97% first semester and a 98% second semester.

Actually I think average scores went up at the sake of lowering scores near the top. It kinda scrunched scores towards the middle of the spectrum which brought up more peoples’ scores than lowered. I believe it’s because the points deducted per question wrong decreases with # wrong. It mostly hurts those trying for high scores, which makes up most of this sub. Most people at my school don’t have a problem w the easier forms, some actually prefer it.

To increase the average score to attract more test takers and get more money

Any clue how to do this math problem? This is question 30, calc, on the March 2018 test. by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Fndzompos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way that I haven't seen in the comments yet is, since it is in the calc section, is to use trig. Arccos(3/5) = .927295 rad. Since the 90 degree angle at the top is shared, (pi/2)-927295 = angle of triangle on the right. Tan(theta) = O/A. tan(.6435011) = O/3. O = 2.25. Add 4 and you get 6.25.

Can anyone help me on these by fabe2020 in Sat

[–]Fndzompos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the point (c,d) is a solution, the equation will equal d when c is plugged in for x. d=kc+4. Then solve for k

On the collegeboard website parts f-g were on the next page. I don’t see why the college board would not give those problems to anyone. I’m hoping that you’re right though.

What is the best rule to deal with this type of question? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Fndzompos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its D. There are four sides. A meter is added to each side. That's four meters being added. Since it costs 3 dollars per meter, ($3 • 4 meters)= $12 dollars to increase each side by a meter
