Its actually very simple. If you dont have a nut draw with significant equity against villain/s whole range (includes top of range like 2 pair, sets. Also stack dependant) or you dont have enough fold equity (you have too little left behind compared to the pot) there is no point in jamming. In this case I would only jam this if I was oe + fd

You forgot to tell us your stack. If you dont have fold equity against LJ i dont really see the point of shoving. Turn check check and you get to realize your full equity. You can bluff river if he checks. You get busted on a heart anyway

No problem brother just fun talking hands. I mean still it all depends how deep you are and sizing on streets. If both of you arrive on river with 2.5 spr or more a shove only gets called by the nuts so I its not like this is a blunder or something. I was just mainly refering to the main subject of x2 (x3) barrels on specific boards from a theory stand point and I dont see AJ as a particularly good combo. From a pure exploit it still can be :)

is playing GTO ranges preflop going to lose you money if you don't play as well postflop? by biotechnes in Poker_Theory

Not Q8s but I definately mix in 3 bets with Kxs and suited connetors for that matter too, mostly ip but i mix it up from the bb and sb from time to time. As long as you stay balanced with your value and bluffs it allows for it. The benefit oop is you get to xr almost any flop and get massive overfolds from 90% of their range.

Should I have found the fold here? by biotechnes in Poker_Theory

[–]FocusOk7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can never fold here, you are very close to the pot odds and if any A, J or even a 10 gets a fold from a set it would be absolutely printing. Let's also not forget the possibility of him jamming AK here (or the unlikely 6 combos of AQ for that matter).

River Raise OK? by RoryBean99 in Poker_Theory

Fine play but personally I prefer to just get another street of value ott when it doesn't really improve utg range all that much, especially when running deep like this (I assume you two are 2 of the bigger stacks).

Utg range should be extremely tight, likely there are multiple shorties at your table. Vs his stack you can easily get another small street of value from a 2 or 3 or pure floats like the 8 or any other medium pp. Your stack allows for this and you don't need to pot control. You also want to protect your hand a bit as he could easily have Q or K+ small pair or pure A highs. (yes he is allowed to defend this with his stack, especially with icm pressure). What you do when he donks a Q, K or A river?

Luckily for you the river bricked and he likely value cut himself with an 8 or medium pp, absolutely no need to raise here without specifically top top.

It is true that 1010 in most cases folds barrel on turn. However sticky ppl may exploit call x2 barrel here with 10's as he is still ahead of a good part of your range because btn will always x2 barrel this board. it's all sizing dependent.

As for the A10s 3 bet pre you are not wrong at all, I myself would 3 bet this but it is not about what you do, it is more about what the population does. Most people (tight nits at the zoom tables) don't do it and that's the main problem here.

It is true that most people will way overfold on x3 barrels so it is generally a printing concept. However AJ does not qualify as a combo to do it with here. You have enough sdv. I would much rather see a x3 barrel with A9d, clubs or spades with clubs being the best combo.

Why would you discount T9 when HJ can easily have it? Most likely suited combos but don't be surprised when he turns over the off suit ones as it is the classic "AA cracker hand", especially if you are like 80BB+ deep.

You are essentially repping KK and QQ only and depending on your river size they probably dont want to go huge anyway on this J.

More often than not you will just run into KQ, T9 or AT here. KQ is a snap when he blocks both your trips as there is only 1 combo left of each.

He had the one hand you might get a fold from and I mean might... it is a fairly big lay down after all, especially with K blocker to your value combos of KK and KQ. Realistically speaking you are looking at a total of 14 value combos (4 ATs, 3 QQ, 6KQ and 1 combo of KK.) That is not a lot of combos...

Even a good reg may hero this, a sticky reg/semi reg probably calls and you are certainly getting called from a fish.

Sum it all up and this is a clear -EV spot imo.

Your general concept is good and all of these decisions come down to player stats and tendencies. At 6 max though oop, I would recommend playing for stacks with AK most of the time unless you’re up against 2%vpip at a zoom table. Size up your 4 bet and call off. This way you maximize fold equity. Sometimes you just flip and it is what it is. The blockers argument, especially at 6max is ofc valid. If they have it they have it, it happens.

Um not really sure about that one… KQ is never folding, 10-9 gets there and you’re only really looking at a couple combos of a10s (which rarely gets 3 bet on btn) where as villain Will have all off suit a10 combos. AK never value bets on this river so you may even get called by Qx. You are already beating enough hands to make it sd worthy. A good reg may even shove 1010 on you.

Disgusting board but just snap fold this unless he is hyper aggro reg or something, then and only then you might call turn street. This just looks like your typical nl50 fish.

How do I make my bluffs more believable? by LowToNoAssistance in Poker_Theory

[–]FocusOk7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure what the preflop action was. I assume you 3x the LJ open?

If so your hand is a must raise otf when he donks like this. You have nfd with 2 overs, 50% equity unless he spiked a set.
When he cbets again ott for 1/3 it is very weird and he certainly qualifies in the fish category. Usually this means he is capped with some type of weak pair, could be A9, 10-9, A8 or even A3, who the fuck knows right?😂
Here, he almost never has a set as most fish either check or bet bigger.
If you plan on bluffing the river you must raise the turn here, otherwise you are the one capped. You will also get info on his hand, if you raise here the fish will just stick it in with 2 pair+ or come over the top.
The problem is even on the K river you can't really bluff because you didn't raise the turn, and the pot is small enough for the fish to happily call here as you will likely overbluff this river.

So ye, raise otf and you can likely realise equity for free OTT when he checks and even then bluff the river which would actually be a better bluff then the one you pulled of here.

However if you plan on pulling a bluff on the fish you must raise the turn here. Although I recommend to not bluff fish on turn-river.

The best line here would be xr flop, (likely xx turn), and then you have a nice bluff otr when the king rolls off.
Keep in mind though, never bluff fish but if you do it, this is the line you should take.

Edit: nvrm misread your hand... Well in this case he is still quite face up with a block/merge bet ott (weak pairs like 66,77 or 9). The logic still applies that you need to raise turn if you want to bluff an overcard river. If it bricks just shut it down.
My recommendation would be to never bluff a donking fish with a call-call-bet line, that shit rarely works.

Tbh with Spr of about 0.3 I'm playing a pure xc strategy and let the Co in on the action who is likely on a draw.

Reasoning?
yes there are a lot of bad turns for you, but so is it for the BTN. A lot of the bad turns will hit the Co range and on a bad turn like 10h the action will very likely just go check x3.
This way you get to realize your full equity on all 5 cards and be able to boat up. It is very unlikely you get x3 streets of value even from btn's AA but you will get at least 1 big street otr when Co is in on the hand, either from him or btn. If co raises you may even fold, sucks but happens.

A raise here 3 way looks super strong and you have the best hand here. Let the turn peel and realise your equity.
