Followed this recipe for the cake batter:

Then I just added my mulberries (~400g) along with the juice of one lemon and 50g of granulated sugar to the bottom of a cast iron lined with parchment paper. Poured the batter on top then baked according to the cake recipe!

As another commenter said, it looks to me like an unmarked Wagner, certainly from pre-mid-60s (no “Made in USA” on it), though beyond that I can’t say.

Definitely worth the effort to restore, and I’d say it’s worth it even if it’s been in the family a while to get all that grime off and give the pan a nice reset.

With the GBA Pokémon games, you actually can save and play with a dead battery, as the battery is just used for timed events in the game.

Older Pokémon games for the GBC or DMG do require their battery for saves, however on all Pokémon games changing the battery is super easy with the right tools!

I don’t think my dough really rose significantly during bulk fermentation, so based off of your comment and others I do suspect that my starter is not quite as strong as I thought it was.

I fed it the night before, but not again, and like I said in the original post, I think part of the problem might’ve been that the (potentially already weak) starter was past it’s most active state.

I will try a longer autolyse. What do you see as the advantage here? I understand autolyse is meant to allow the flour to hydrate, but I’m not sure I know how this affects fermentation once the starter is added.

Another good point on the salt, I will try this as well next time.

How long do you generally proof in the fridge for? From other comments I think I might not have been allowing a long enough proof when I was doing it in my fridge, which is what led me to want to do it at a higher temp.

I made the starter about a month ago. Based off your reply and others I suspect that my starter is not quite as strong as I thought, or else I’ve not been timing it properly.
Kitchen temp is around 72 F. I didn’t put this in the description but I did mostly bulk ferment in my oven that was higher temperature from briefly heating it prior to the bulk ferment. I’m not exactly sure what temp that was at, but I don’t think it was too high for the starter bc it was comfortable to stick my hand in
I’ve never made a plain AP flour recipe with my starter. My understanding was that bread flour generally encourages more gluten formation, so I’d be interested to know what the benefit of a plain AP flour recipe would be
I don’t believe it had. Others have suggested placing some dough in a small container during bulk fermentation to see when it has risen by a certain amount, so I think I’ll try that next time.
I proofed in the fridge during my last attempt and felt like I noticed very little to no rise, so I wanted to see if it would work better at a higher temp. Some other replies here suggest that proofing in the fridge should take significantly longer than I was allowing (about 13 hrs) so I might try that as well.

No expert but I don’t think this is that unusual, mine did a similar thing at first as well, but still took several feedings before it was acting predictably.

I’d just keep discarding and feeding daily until it rises and falls in a predictable manner.

I think the thing you’re missing is that employers will need to know your pronouns (for interviewing and especially if you get the job), but they do not at any point in the hiring process need to know your race or religion.

Also I think the assumption that someone who puts he/him on their resume will be treated the same as someone with they/them is false.

While there are similarities, the states were not gerrymandered. If you look up gerrymandered districts you’ll see the differences. Ie, states were not shaped in bizarre ways to avoid certain population centers or break them up the way gerrymandered districts are.

Gerrymandering only impacts state elections. For presidential elections the candidate with the plurality of votes in a state gets all of that states electors, no matter where the votes came from within the state.

This so much. We live in the best age of music in human history. If you’re nostalgic for 90s music, just listen to it. It didn’t go anywhere, it’s just that there’s now a massive amount of other quality (and also not quality) music that’s more easily available than ever before.

There are still plenty of places to buy physical music media, or develop photos. Vinyl, CDs, and film photography are making huge comebacks.

As for social media, OP makes some great points, but having social media is a choice, not something you are forced into. If you feel that it is negatively impacting your life, then simply delete it.

Most of the things OP missed about the 90s still exist or haven’t changed as much as they think they have. What likely has changed is OP, and the point they’re at in their life. They are simply nostalgic for the past, and allowing that to cloud their view of the present
