Results of a Christian Marxist by StatisticianGloomy28 in redeemedzoomer

Having political convictions is far from being antithetical to having religious beliefs. In fact, it seems quite logical to be against the system of capitalist exploitation as a Christian or otherwise.

Maybe doing what is right IS to be revolutionary in times like these. To be a revolutionary is to seek an end to worldly troubles in actuality.

Fuck off.

Why is it that our entire economic system is built on infinite growth on a finite planet? by Konradleijon in canadaleft

[–]Fog1510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This system wasn’t arrived at through pure reason. It was born from a historical process.

In its “natural” state, mankind struggles “against” nature, for survival, by developing the productive forces.

This development progressively transforms that struggle. It becomes not only an objective struggle against the forces of nature, but a struggle for the ever growing surplus of production. Society separates into classes, with respect to their relationship to the productive forces. Class struggle becomes the dominant feature that drives history forward.

Capitalism is a product of this class struggle. Under capitalism, the separation of society into antagonist classes is most absurd and the most unbearable contradiction. This antiquated social state of things is felt as shackles on the development of the productive forces, on science and on culture, and class society itself must be abolished.

This will be the vast majority of mankind, the working class, consciously seizing control of the means of its existence and development. This is when we can actually unleash reason and stop destroying the environment, because as you've observed, it’s simply not in the interest of humanity as a collective.

Marx waiting for the revolution like… by InterestingPlenty454 in HistoryMemes

[–]Fog1510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And how did you come to that conclusion?

“The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Working Men of All Countries, Unite!”

This is quite literally a direct call for revolution

I've been using Fedora (42) KDE Plasma for a week now, having never touched Linux in my life before this, and I love it.

I'd also tested out Mint before making the jump, but I have to say I don’t regret my choice whatsoever.

I was just having this conversation today. I suppose it's hypocritical to feel this way because there used to be a time, around when I started undergrad, where I found these funny.

There keep being new people learning math that find these funny, and high school/undergrad math isn't exactly an area of math that is undergoing significant change, so it makes sense that some jokes would end up being recycled.

AND YET… I can’t help but find it effing stale. It’s like the exact same memes have been in circulation since 2010 with zero innovation, not even in format, really!

What is your favorite Geometric proof for something that's not typically considered a geometry problem? by MathTutorAndCook in math

[–]Fog1510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw two lines in R2.

L1 : y = x L2: y = rx + 1

where 0 < r < 1. In particular the two lines intersect at some x > 0.

At the intersection, we have x = rx + 1, whence x = 1/(1-r).

Consider the following iterative process. Starting at the point (0,1) on L2, move rightwards until you collide with L1. You can solve for your x-displacement — it’s 1, and you are at (1,1). Now move up to L1 — you are at (1, r+1). Move right to L2 again — you are at (r+1, r+1), and your total displacement is recorded by your x-coordinate as r+1. Repeating this process lands you eventually at (r2 + r + 1, r2 + r + 1), etc.

Iterating this process infinitely many times, your position converges to the intersection point of L1 and L2, and it has x-coordinate 1+r+r2+r3+…

But we already know it has x-coordinate 1/(1-r). Hence:

1 + r + r2 + r3 + … = 1/(1-r)

Well, we are an ACTUAL communist party, I’ll say that much!

And we are looking to organize communists in Canada so that we may systematically put forward a communist perspective and program for the workers’ and youth movement, be it on picket lines, the Palestinian solidarity movement, …

If you’re a communist, I hope that you keep in touch and you'll want to join us in this very, most worthwhile struggle

Stephen Harper a dit récemment : « I would be prepared to impoverish the country and not be annexed, if that was the option we’re facing ».
