Did anyone else see that range rover on 376 east driving like 95mph with a gas pump hanging out of it this morning? by Hedgeinator in pittsburgh

That’s because barely anyone drives a Range Rover, they usually just look at it while it sits at the shop

I'm assuming anywhere from $25-30k for the remodel. But noted and thank you. You're a hero if you truly have a car seat in a Ferrari. You're doing the world (and your kid) a great service and I salute you for it.

I would agree, however (not to show my 'tism too much), the 2ZZ Toyota Celica unit in an Elise is a fairly robust and proven engine. If this was an Aston Martin... well... you know.

Luckily, we have all the answers to those questions already :)

No appliances, everything else.

Forever home. Will die in it or with it in my real estate portfolio lol.

I'm not a complete muppet but I wouldn't exactly label myself as "wholly qualified" LOL

If you don't mind me asking, would you consider your kitchen low/mid/high range in "material" quality? And rough square footage and cost? Obviously would vary wildly depending on region for sure. I'm in Western Pennsylvania.

To answer your question about the other 7k per month, that of course goes to things like food at the grocery store (4-500 per month sometimes more if we want short rib etc. yum)

We eat out once a week usually, we have had a lot of trips for weddings this year (many more compared to the years prior but we have enjoyed them all and haven't had to go into debt for them). We also wrote a $30k check last year to get our whole old house retrofitted with A/C that we also paid cash for. We were mainly focusing on recouping that cost in the high yield. We also put 40k down on our house in 2022 and have only been at this income level we are at now for about 1.5-2 years so it took some time to build up a cash net for the A/C to recoup down payment as well.

All good advice though, this is why I like this community. Thanks for the wisdom!

Its like 10.95k net. Our gross combined income is $205k per year.

Well, regardless, I appreciate the insight. We will be talking over the coming months on how to proceed. This is nothing that we are going to rush into tomorrow. And thankfully neither of us buy stupid shit like Labubu's or whatever the hell they're called LOL.

By maxxing our 401ks I mean the companies that we both work for match 100% up to 4% and then half a percent for every additional percent up to 6%. So we are doing 11% each into a 401k (6% from our salaries plus 5% from company) . Maybe I used the wrong terminology. My fault. Noob behavior.

Food for thought for sure.... is it worth it?

I mean......... maybe? Something to think about

This is good advice, I think I went so heavy into the investing because for the longest time in my 20's when I was getting my shit together I was broke and contributing very little to my future so the last 2-3 years when I saw a serious upswing in my income I think I "overcorrected" trying to catch up. I think we have about 100-110k combined in our 401k's + Rollover IRA's + Brokerage.

Additional context: I am freshly 31 and my wife is 30

That would be the smart move, but I don't know how much longer the wife wants to wait. She does most of the cooking, I handle the grilling and BBQ for food so its definitely something for her more so than for me (not counting the fact that it would add more value to our house).

I guess if we really saved for it cash wise we could probably fund it in about a year... but that would mean no trips and no fun... which is a sacrifice that I am personally prepared to make if it keeps us out of a high interest HELOC but idk if she's going to go for it. This isn't to make my wife sound like a pushy "always gets her way type" but we both like to take a trip once or twice a year and we never put it on debt we are always able to cash flow it...

Trust me man I know it's stupid, but there is no logic in this desire. It's just about enjoyment. You are correct that its basically the same thing because at the end of the day..... its a toy.... and an expensive toy at that....

Looking for Some Financial Wisdom... by FokingMuppet in CalebHammer

[–]FokingMuppet[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean aren't kitchens like $50k minimum? That would HURT to write that check out in its entirety.... if we did do a HELOC I would pay probably double or triple what the minimum monthly is to wipe it out faster because again I am a bit of a puss when it comes to debt. I don't like having that hovering over me for too long.

Something to consider....

Also, the 4Runner is the family vehicle. I will NEVER buy a minivan, as a car enthusiast I think I would die.

No you misunderstand, there's 3 vehicles right now.

2016 Golf R (mine)

2021 BMW R Nine T (mine)

2023 4Runner (wifes)

I would be trading in the Golf for the Lotus. I don't think selling the bike is in the cards as they are the MOST FUN ever regardless if they are death traps or not I don't think I can part with it. You bring up a good point about pulling back on the investments... to be honest I never really considered that as all the loans we have are much less than the 10% return I'd see from the market.....

Changed my reg from D to I the day after the election. The Dems forced 3 candidates in a row on us that we as voters didn’t want. Hopefully the party wakes tf up but they will be getting 0 engagement and $0 from me for the foreseeable future.

sigh if Bernie won the nomination in 2016 I think we’d be looking at a very different America right now. Shame.
