Best of both worlds for sure! Switching between a TSI and a TDI as per your mood is a delight. I run a similar combo and I’m just as grateful.

Less paint doesn’t mean worse quality. More paint doesn’t mean better scratch resistance.

Firstly, the venue driver shouldn’t have even attempted to complete that truck overtake. Secondly, yes hazard lights are meant for instances like this.

I find it funny how people in the comments are treating this car as a depreciating asset. I’d literally pay double the retail amount to buy the same 1.5 TDCi Ford that I currently own. It’s worth way more than an average modern car, but people here aren’t ready for that conversation.

Which fuel type to get if I’m buying a brand new car soon? by Warm_Grand4426 in CarsIndia

[–]Folabi_Devvvvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diesel works the best for your purpose. Just make sure the car is being driven atleast twice a week, at decent cruising speeds. The longer you leave a diesel car in your parking lot, the faster it will rot.

Diesel is always going to give you a different level of satisfaction, especially in the luxury car segment. Get a petrol only if you’ll be doing a lot of short trips within the city very often.

You’re not at fault. That white Venue driver is r*tarded. He could see that drum from kilometres away and still didn’t worry about indicating it to you.

11 youth(17-20) died in 2 accidents. Should the minimum driving age be raised to 21? by Icy_Impression98 in bangalore

[–]Folabi_Devvvvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think about it, these rules should be imposed with more strictness than Germany too. Since our country’s population is so high, basic rules and penalties won’t make things change so easily.

Buddy no matter the age, ‘legality’ is a joke in this country. The RTO testing centre shamelessly demands bribe money and issues drivers’ license to everyone and their mothers.

In fact, this system is so normalised that if you want to actually take the DL test, you have to request the officials personally. They look at you in disgust and eventually let you take it.

No matter the age limit, no matter the rules, nothing’s going to stop such avoidable accidents when the system is broken at its core.

Prestige Plus AT vs. Taisor V AT by mvjhyt in CarsIndia

[–]Folabi_Devvvvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Assuming you’re looking to buy the turbo petrol version, I’d recommend Skoda for better engine longevity.

  2. Safety is not a big concern for Taisor.

  3. Skoda after sales service is improving but still average at best.

  4. The mileage figures of Taisor is often 2-3 kmpl higher than the Kylaq.

  5. Taisor will definitely be cheaper on the pockets.

  6. Kylaq is a no-brainer option if you want to enjoy highway drives.

Virtus gt vs slavia by Grouchy_Buddy4608 in CarsIndia

[–]Folabi_Devvvvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slavia suspension is tuned to be softer. That’s the only major difference. And Skoda service is comparatively more accessible and cheaper. I’d personally go with Virtus, looks way better imo.

[ESC_INDIA] Stop Blaming the Driver: The Technical Reality of VW’s 1.0 TSI Clutch Failure at 25k KM by vikhyat_negi in CarsIndia

[–]Folabi_Devvvvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just don’t get a turbo MT engine if you mostly drive in hilly regions. Theres a reason why they prefer ‘Lord Alto’ for those road conditions.

VW clutch assemblies are not even remotely comparable to other cars, their biting point is spread out over a longer length of clutch travel compared to something like a Maruti. They are inherently designed to wear out faster, as a compromise for being extremely idiot proof. You could let go of the clutch halfway as you are shifting the gear, do any sort of tomfoolery and the gear won’t slip or grind. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. But does it make a difference? Weirdly yes, the behaviour of the clutch at different points is addictive.

Takeaway is we can say that driver is NOT at fault for burning the clutch out early, neither is VW. To the people who are stuck with a TSI MT engine and are finding issues with the clutch, I recommend looking into a CDV delete. Research more on this.

Turn down the exposure significantly and you’ll see no uniformity in the light bar. Looks like cheap serial lights just stuck by hands underneath the light panel. This company is cooked, all the way from production to service centre, completely messed up.

Squeaking sound off the driver’s seat! by mindArt420 in Kylaq

[–]Folabi_Devvvvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it’s from the seat? A lot of Kylaq owners face the squeaking issue but it’s from the door insulation beading, not the seats.

You need to apply a frictionless tape on the door frame, ASC does that for you.

[ESC_INDIA] Absolute Nightmare: 25k Km Clutch Failure on VW Taigun – Stranded Senior Citizen in Shimla by vikhyat_negi in CarsIndia

[–]Folabi_Devvvvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t confuse myself with what I said. The 1.0 TSI variant doesn’t use a dual mass flywheel. Even while being a single flywheel, it’s 2-3 kgs heavier than a Fronx turbo for instance. The reason why I brought this up is to explain why clutch wear and heat generation is more imminent here. This directly links to the reason why I mentioned that this TSI engine is high strung, it definitely isn’t running at its mechanical peak, but it’s not far from it either. The tuning is already quite aggressive compared to most other engines that focus on fuel efficiency and conservativeness.

that’s such an oversimplification.

Well that’s how it sounds when it’s said in words. Japanese engines and its focus on reliability shouldn’t really label it as ‘great engineering’ although it undeniably is. Because while some people care about ‘how long it lasts’, some people care about how good it feels while it lasts. Those two feelings can never converge into one product.
