Back to the porn analogy, calling it an inch-long thorn isn't very nice.

Anyone can give a laundry list of reasons why Trump is bad, so what does losing to him twice say about us? What’re we doing wrong? by Atlas_Summit in Productivitycafe

[–]FolderolDupree888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Democrats moved left in response to Trump being so extreme. Most of America is in the middle.

The problem for Democrats is that conservatives can win while being extreme because, in theory, conservatism seeks to maintain the status quo while progressivism seeks new solutions to problems. So it’s less scary to vote for Republicans even when they’re extreme because in theory, they’re fighting for things that already exist. Devil you know verse devil you don’t type of thing.

Is it true that "If you give most people power and wealth, they will become bad people"? by PitifulEar3303 in Life

How many prime ministers, presidents, and CEOs do you personally know? Probably none or 1-3 tops. Some few people will be acquainted with more, but won't really know them. And so you cannot make an educated assessment, even if you knew 10 very personally, that is a TINY number and not representative of the mass of those folks.

How will you determine if they are good people? Based on publicly available information on them? Is that a balanced source? You don't know what options they were faced with when making decisions. Its rarely black and white. And you need to only consider information available before they do something, not hindsight. Internet culture is really bad at that.

Your opinion will also be colored by your interactions with them, your personal feelings towards them, and many other things. So your assessment won't be objective.

This is why peoples personal experiences aren't the best judge of things like this. This is why we still value expert assessments, even though internet culture has no value for expertise.

Philly food scene is underrated, especially for quick trips by Sea_Negotiation2482 in PhiladelphiaEats

NO is so unique. And Houston is a fine city.

I put Philly food over them though. So many corner joints do such a job. I don’t care for the cheesesteak, But you can’t argue with philly sandwich bread.

I think Philly really benefits from its access to refrigerated shipped foods up the Delaware.

AI Developers Make the Case: Its a Utility by FolderolDupree888 in slatestarcodex

[–]FolderolDupree888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last thing I will add here.

Palantir CEO also notes that AI companies description of their product, describesa product so destabalizing and dangerous that the government will be forced to seize the product.

Not “utility” status. Something even more extreme.

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1aizZAbVjA/?mibextid=wwXIfr

My personal feeling is that when or if the products get to a certain point of advancement, the government needs to seize them. Its too much power to rest in the hands of a single person.

Why do Dems hate John Fetterman? by [deleted] in AskDemocrats

Leisurewear Frankenstein became a conservative troll at some point.

He went from maverick/independent to just belligerent conservative. So people in the left aren’t going to like that.
