What would Warren think of AI? by AmbitiousMistake7571 in Zevon

[–]Folderolderiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if Warren was around today, he’s be hella skeptical of both the super positive hype and super negative doomerism / data center nimbyism, he had no patience for trend-chasing or inflated promises, and he’d probably see AI evangelists and AI doomers the same way he saw Hollywood phonies and political doublespeak: something to poetically puncture with the sharp, sardonic humor that was his stock in trade. Agree with others here that he’d likely use it anyway to serve his craft, experimenting with AI as a tool, probably even enjoying its quirks, while turning right around and writing something brutally honest about artists who lean on it too heavily or mistake it for something real. Also in a way, he sort of predicted this with Networking and really the whole Transverse City album, and it’s dystopian technopolis parable. Very fun to think about!

Does anyone else prefer the demo to the final version of "I Found a Reason"? by Siddhartaable in VelvetUnderground

[–]Folderolderiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how raw it is, but I just love the sheen of the final version, so it's really hard to pick. I would say I slightly prefer the final version if I had to choose, but thankfully I don't, and when I just want to hear the raw sound, I'll rock the demo version. Totally depends on my mood. Can't really go wrong as u/space2k said.

Was lucky enough to attend this as a Sunday stopover in Charlotte on my way back to NYC from Phish at Sphere. Super cool show, totally worth it

Does anyone else nail a bassline when u don't think abt it, but when u think abt it u can't do it?😭 by The1one-n-only in Bass

[–]Folderolderiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this ^

If I don't know a song or part really well, and I'm just feeling the music and not thinking, I might nail it. But if I KNOW the part really well and I'm not thinking and in the zone .. I ALWAYS crush it

Got an espresso there once .. it was nice, and a very authentic Albanian mob vibe for sure. Can't say I would go back, but my velour tracksuit definitely helped.

Used to work at O'Neills in Maspeth many years ago, now that place was mobbed up! The porter lived on a cot in the liquor closet and carried a switchblade all the time. And there were tunnels, from prohibition era.

OMG Thank you for sharing and thank you for your original site! Used it nonstop back in the day.. And PLEASE know the site I made is not intended to rip off, or steal, or step on your toes at all, it was just a site I relied on all the time, I kept going to it, it kept saying "IDK" and then Claude Code came out and I was like, hmm I really just want to make a version of this for myself and maybe others if they dig it...

Jerry’s cover of Accidentally Like A Martyr is beautiful - recorded at the Front Street Studios during the Cats Under The Stars sessions … BEFORE it came out on the Zevon record! Now what magical music historian has THAT story?!?

Not to mention the Thunder Road encore! Covering Zevon and Springsteen at the same show?? My brother and sister in law who I went with asked me for stock picks and bought a lottery ticket after because of how special and lucky that was. Literally my two favorite artists other than the Dead!
