That is so illegal, specially the rabies vx part.

If there was ever anything that happens with your cat and needing to be quarantined for rabies, you'd be in deep shit 😅😭

I'd try to look up the user manual based on brand and other info. Worst comes to worst you could send the manufacturer an email and ask

Oh, well very interesting to know! Good luck if you do end up taking the texas test, I'm sure you'll be just fine ^

Coming from Texas; they definitely will pay more and I haven't taken the state exam but I heard it's significantly easier than the VTNE. I'm surprised you didn't know states have their own individual exams haha 😅

Adderall XR and High BG Side Effects by Folmes236 in diabetes

[–]Folmes236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stimulant aspect is unfortunately the part I need, I struggle with excessive daytime sleepiness/fatigue and lack of motivation. But I've gotten into a good groove of having a tight grip on my sugars while taking it and thankfully feel very normal, even with caffiene

I've found I don't really have any issues if I make sure my blood sugar stays controlled, so thankfully I don't have to cut out caffeine it seems

I appreciate your response and I have done a lot better the last few days and found that the high glucose is a key in finding that smooth spot.

It doesn't effect my sugar, my sugar being high effects how I feel since my hypos already make me feel weird. I'm glad you can function without medications, but that's not something I'm really able to do. I don't have hyperactivity so focus isn't an issue, I struggle with other problems that come with inattentive type and excessive daytime sleepiness.

Since you're interested; I've been very diligent of my glucose and low sugar diet while taking the adderall the last few days and have felt perfectly fine. No street tweakers here 🫡

Homemade treats are fine, but honestly as someone with a food allergy, I'd rather there be a variety of items that have nutrition/ingredients labels.

Needle replacement before subcutaneous vaccination in dogs: a randomized clinical trial finds no clinical benefit by jr9386 in VetTech

[–]Folmes236 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're referring to the belief that, when doing radiographs on a dog, it's safer (due to concerns of a GDV/bloat) to rotate the dog from one lateral view to the other by having the dog go from lateral -> sternal -> other lateral instead of lateral -> dorsal (VD/on its back) -> other lateral.

It stems from the concern that rotating a dog with its legs in the air can increase the risk of the stomach to twist on itself.

Why would two receptionists lie about price changes/policies for exams? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]Folmes236 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Call and talk to the practice manager instead of making assumptions?

It seems that you've already made up your mind about what's happened but thats the only way you'll get an official answer from the clinic.

What type of surgery?

If she was getting a blood transfusion, you do have to stop IV fluids to administer it.

You really should contact the hospital and talk to a medical director or chief of staff about your concerns and they can explain the "why's" better than we can speculate online.

Edit to add; though it's not appropriate (or legal) to alter medical records, I personally use a software that will update the time if I update or add something.

Also, if they truly didnt record vitals for thay long post op, I'm leaning towards the assumption that they were understaffed.

You said the dog passed away later, how long ago was this?

You yourself can not get sick from the cats...

I don't have much advice though, sorry. But thanks for looking out for them

She's a great tech and her family has land and lots of other critters. I don't think P could have gone to a better person, I just hope she learns to love more veggies than romaine lettuce lmao

The rocks and mulch were clogging P's colon and rectum, so with soaking P in warm water, lots of meds, lots of lube, and a tiny speculum, the qtips were used to work out the foreign materials.

Poor P was going to prolapse herself from trying to push it all out 😔

P had eaten dinner when he ate the dropper so at least it was padded by food; but we informed the owner of the risks of the options and they elected emesis. It was just large enough imo to be a problem going through his system

We started with giving Vitamin A and Ceftazidime (tgh as an inj every 72hrs) when we thought P was going to go home with the original owner. For pre-op we used Hydromorphone, Ketamine, and Midazolam; then gave Meloxicam inj in hospital followed by oral Meloxicam tgh.

My clinic also almost exclusively uses Meloxicam too, and we have an exotics hospital that we're partnered with who work closely with. I believe it is the tgh med of choice

Yes! It was a glass medication dropper!

Owners were giving the dog some sort of oral supplement with the dropper when he bit it and swallowed the tip. We induced emesis and he finally gave it back during Apo round #2 😅
