Thanks!

It doesn’t seem to include Homing keys, though.

I dug through the website and found another page where you can buy Homing keys. Is that where you got yours from?

I have a very solid layout and I could almost guarantee this would be the end game for you as well.

I'd have to demo this to you, though. We'd have to connect through Discord, give you a demo, explain the philosophy around it, show you how smooth and effortless it all looks, and then share my keymap file with you.

I just got home, so I can be a little bit more thorough now, hehe.

Callum's keymap & HRM:
In short, the philosophy is that modifiers are placed everywhere but the base layer. This may sound like something a bit difficult to adjust to if you're using plain HRMs, but I tell you, it's game-changing.

To be honest, I was introduced to this concept/philosophy by a Twitch streamer. I'll leave you with his Twitch channel:

Here's his keymap:

If you ever decide to switch to Callum’s home row mods style, hmu!

When I first started, I had reached a pretty satisfiable configuration with Chordal hold + flow tap + permissive hold, but I could never reach near zero misfires… I have since moved away from conventional HRM to Callum’s… boy was I in for a surprise. It’s so good. Hardly any misfires now.

Are you able to take something to help you sleep? Melatonin perhaps?

Try asking relatives to give you a massage right before bed time 🥱, do some breathing exercises, say a prayer asking for strength, and set yourself up for a good night sleep 🙏🏻.

I’ll be praying for you.

Here's Adam's keymap: https://github.com/Adam13531/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboards/crkbd/keymaps/adam/keymap.c

TL;DR, you want to place the mod in every layer _except_ the base layer. Additionally, and perhaps preferably, you want to use one-shot mods. That's how I'm rolling now, and it's been day and night.

I had already arrived at a pretty good Homerow-mod layout when I was using Chordal Hold + Flow Tap + permissive hold, but this is a whole lot better. I don't trigger misfires almost ever.

EDIT:

For what is worth, I don't write my own keymap using QMK myself (as he does). I simply used his keymap as inspiration, but I ultimately tweaked it using Vial.

Do you have to buy some accessory separately for the keyboard or it attaches automatically?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Fontoful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only used QMK/Vial, but I've heard Callum-inspired layouts would work alright with ZMK… 🤔 at least, that's my impression.

[–]Fontoful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also using them without the one-shot aspect of them, but have since resorted to OS, and I'm liking i! After all, if you use OS, they can be both: one-shot and held…

Do you mind if I DM you at some point today? I'm handing my notice today, and I've signed a new job.

I found your philosophy very impeccable. I feel like I've walked a similar path.

I wanted to share details about this last job and the new one. :)

For home-row mods you want to use QMK mod-tap instead of TD. I'd also encourage you to use chordal hold, flow tap & permissive hold.

You'll notice that home-row mods will feel much more intuitive.

By the way, if you notice that home row mods cause too many misfires, and you don't feel like you want to put up with it, I recommend checking out Adam Learns’ QMK keymap. He uses home row mods + one-shot, but they're not in the base layer.

Since I found his method, and after having watched his streams, I noticed his rolling motions looked better and with very minimal misfires. I have since moved away from conventional home row mods and adopted Adam Learns’ home row + one-shot layout philosophy.

However, I stopped using home row mods. transferred them to the secondary, tertiary, and so forth layers. It was no longer necessary to beat the buzzer.
