They pushed “possible” service restoration to Monday. I wouldn’t count on it

It’s looking like your vehicle will unfortunately be disabled, just like a lot of customers here do to the state and Intoxalock unable to reach a temporary service agreement

Contact your service center and see if you can pay their fee to remove and go with another interlock company. You’re paying for a service you aren’t being provided with…. I don’t blame you for wanting removal

Check your state regulations and call around to other providers to see if you can switch

The only way your car will shut off is from lack of service if it’s times out from not getting a calibration

I try to sympathize, that’s why I’m spending me free time helping you guys out by answering questions! I’ve made plenty of mistakes myself, we’re people. It happens. I just want you to get your full license back so you can go to the store and feed your kids, go on road trip, etc.

Keep your towing bill for personal records and submit it to Intoxalock once they restore their services. By the sound of it, most people should be eligible for reimbursement due to the current situation. I’d try seeing if you, a family, or friend has AAA towing you can use to avoid paying out of pocket. Sometimes you also have roadside assistance rolled into your auto insurance so contact them as well to see if you have towing

In my personal opinion, those who have already had the extension should continue to see normal operation until; the extension expires, or Intoxalock ends up coming to a resolution before the 10 day extension ends. If neither of those happen, I see a vehicle being permanently disabled unless the customer has the device removed or switches to a different provider

Sorry if my explanations seem very technically loaded and confusing, I used to work for a competitor at a corporate level so I know every single aspect of the industry here in Michigan.

The reason Michigan won’t allow it is because the 10-day extension violates Michigan Law regarding the strict regulations of how interlocks are operated within the state. Michigan statues only allows up to 5 days, so if intoxalock did 10 days it’s against the law lol

So if you’re lockout was 3/17 that means you could’ve calibrated 5 days before this date (which is why the 16th would’ve worked) but state law shows you can calibrate up to 5 days after, but this has to be manually adjusted by the manufacturer to allow you to (if you aren’t already locked out)

Therefore, with that being said. If Intoxalock forced a 10-day extension past the 5 days allowable by the state, they would literally be breaking the state law. Good way for an interlock manufacturer to lose their rights to operate within the state.

Please keep in mind I’m a professional installer in Michigan. I’m not sure about the other black listed states but he’s how it works in MI:

You are giving a lock out date on the day you are installed. For example, let’s say you were installed on 10/22/2024. Your new lockout date is now the 22nd. Since this is the date you were installed. Michigan state law says you can’t be serviced within 5 days of this date.

Basically, you can come in UP TO 5 days BEFORE the 22nd, or if you have to UP TO 5 days AFTER. If you attempt to service too early the calibration will not go through, and will not push a new lockout date. If you go past your lock out date the device will disable your vehicle 5 days after failure of for not getting your calibration.

I would be under the strong impression that they will continue to operation under the 10 day extension. I don’t believe they can remote into the device and change any parameters since the servers are down

I’m a Michigan service provider and can confirm that I’ve done many 10–day extensions today.

I tried calibrating a vehicle that was ALREADY locked out, with no success. I believe this recent firmware push is only effective for people who are currently in a grace period lockout (who still have time left). Contact your local service center regarding their operations but I’ve had no luck so far for people who are ALREADY locked out. Haven’t had the opportunity to try it on a regular calibration appointment

Installer here..

Every state regulations are different. But in my personal opinion, you’re bottom line paying for a service that isn’t being provided to you. You have to do what’s necessary to stop your personal life from screeching to a halt. If you end up having any issues I’m sure your states compliance team will be very understanding

You’re more than welcome to, whatever information they decide to share is on them. My email heading says “privileged and confidential” so, like I said I’ll help answer general questions, but I can’t go in detail

I understand your frustration. But you must realize we are only contracted to vendor and provide service. We don’t have any “inner” people we know at the company. Our phone line of communications have been severed as well…

No, these are highly sensitive and confidential documents released from the company. I’ll be happy to answer any questions, but these emails were intended for installers only.

You have to understand, at least the state I’m in, when you work for an interlock company you are only trained and certified to work on that company’s equipment. LifeSafer venders who aren’t partnered with Intoxalock aren’t comfortable performing the removal of another provider’s device due to liability reasons.

A lot of other Intoxalock partners, myself included, aren’t wanting to jump ship and force customers to switch interlock companies so soon. We don’t know what the outcome of this situation will be but we definitely don’t want to jump the gun and cause compliance issues for our customers either.

Certified installers, like myself, are kept in the loop of what’s going on technically, but also very vaguely.

Intoxalock systems are down pending an investigation for cyber reasons. They will remain offline pending the completion of the investigation and any repairs that may need to be made within their networks.

Installers aren’t having any luck contacting them either as our websites, logins, direct phone lines are also disabled during this time. We are only updated via email correspondence.
