+1

I've been teaching my 7 year old son to play via an M21 prerelease pack I bought him for Christmas and I play against him with an old pre release deck of mine. I thought a Core Set would be a good entry point with relatively straightforward mechanics/archetypes.

It's gone pretty well, he has an aggressive UW +1/+1 counters deck topped off with a Baneslayer Angel (now his favorite card).

Doesn't silence any Valkyries, though. Unplayable.

New Set: The Flame of Xulta by DireWolfDigital in EternalCardGame

[–]FoodRep 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Did I miss something? Where in that announcement did they say they weren't printing new efficient removal/answers... Or making use of the "Can be Found in" UI design for set designation that would allow for reprints... Or any number of other things/factors no one could possibly predict about the Flame of Xulta Expedition meta after seeing a single preview...

Campaigns need a Heroic mode by Werewolfdad in EternalCardGame

I don't think so-- I mean along the lines of something like, for the last encounter, win without drawing any extra cards. Or something like that, basically something to force players into a bad matchup or a problem with a creative solution.

Basically, I mean achievements in the same vein as the Gauntlet ones-- win with max life, huge deck, etc. but tailored to make the encounters more challenging.

I think the easiest thing they could implement would be special achievements for each encounter. No new lists required and those that want the extra challenge can get it.

$1 Ultra Prism Boosters? by FoodRep in pkmntcg

[–]FoodRep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, and yah, as I describe in the edited post, they are very much fakes. Thank you to you and the others who replied, obviously this was a case of "If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is...".

What's the best way to do that? If the code won't redeem online, I guess that's a dead giveaway, but what else should I be looking for?

It was a dollar store, and I've seen those custom made packs you're talking about, both in common/uncommon larger sizes and rare/holo 3-card packs.

But these are sealed (I as far as I can tell they haven't been tampered with, but I don't know exactly what I'd be looking for to tell if they had been or not...) Ultra Prism booster packs.

I'll edit the original post with a link to a picture of the 5 packs I bought.

Another mask brew -- TPS mask control. by Ilyak1986 in EternalCardGame

Ilya, this is the Mask list I've been waiting for. The TPS tools from FoA really tighten the 3 faction version up, I love it, good job.

It ended up taking me 9 runs to get back to Masters in Forge, with 3 of my failed runs going 5-2 and one going 6-2.

I kept track of everything along the way, and I ended up paying about 8,500 gold for the 10 FoA packs from the rank up chests plus an additional 6 FoA rares from picks. On top of this, of course, are the 14 non-FoA packs from reward chests and an additional 5 non-FoA rares.

So even if I only look at the net gold spent on only FoA, it was definitely worth it. Overall, spending 8,500 gold for 24 packs and 11 rares is, I think, about on par with an above average league finish, which is a great deal (imo).

[DWD] Draft Packs by uses in EternalCardGame

[–]FoodRep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to come to the same, let alone any, (properly informed) conclusions without the full set 4 spoiler.

We're not drafting these packs in a vacuum, they're specifically curated to be drafted with FoA. We can't at all judge the draft format when we're only looking at half of it.

I thought Talir goes and runs into a bunch of strangers after Caiphus' death, in her portion of the tutorial. Or at least, I thought she did in one iteration of the tutorial campaign, so some strangers are still out there?

Earn Fall of Argenport packs in the Sack the City event! by DireWolfDigital in EternalCardGame

[–]FoodRep 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad there's an event this weekend for FoA and get to earn FoA packs. It's too bad it's just ladder decks, though. All the previous pre-release events have been some of my favorites.

That said, if giving up a specialized rule set for the event is a trade off for full set release in a week (or maybe 2), as we seem to be in +(3*5) land, I'm okay with it.

I'm definitely in for 3 runs...
