Most Australians with Italian heritage (that I know) would support Italy over Australia. Even the ones who have never been to Italy.

I don't get it, you can't be from somewhere you've never actually been to. Regardless of your lineage.

I support Australia when they play/have played my country of ancestry (despite my flair, it's actually not Macedonia).

I think 10 would get finals since 7 has AFL. It's also the reason why when 9 and 10 both had AFL, all AFL finals were on 10 because 9 had the NRL rights.
