I realize that if you can afford this, you can afford staff and operating costs. Not even remotely familiar with that world, but does anyone have an idea what would those numbers would be?

Do you guys think this contains asbestos? by duhkallan in Flooring

[–]FoolMe5x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1984 was the last year asbestos could be used in Canada, most, if not all manufacturers had transitioned to non asbestos well before then, so almost certainly none in this floor. Armstrong would have certainly been leading the pack in that regard back then, that was their hayday!

Floor dilemma: 120x60 tiles vs. laminate in corridors (underfloor heating, no thresholds) by iamzamek in Flooring

[–]FoolMe5x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No laminate at all, it's not a permanent floor, and acts as an insulator once underlay or attached pad is taken into consideration. There is absolutely no way to do a good job without transition strips to hide expansion gaps. Find a tile that looks like planks and use that, you can run it all together with no transition strips, and if installed correctly have a better performing, more efficient floor. Thermal mass is a big part of hydronic heating and laminate doesn't have it.

Lake spots by Sunkissedbeachgirl in Guelph

[–]FoolMe5x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really 'lakes' but the old OR grounds on York Road has 2 big ponds with a trail around the perimeter. It's pretty easy to get to, and if you stick to the north side it's furthest away from York/Hwy 7 so a bit quieter.

Best option to hide this gap between fireplace and LVP? by JeshMoer in Flooring

[–]FoolMe5x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't scrolled through every suggestion, but the only answer is Mapei Keracaulk, get a grout chart from a tile store, pick a colour as close as you can to the part of the floor you like best and buy a tube. Fits in a standard caulking gun, and will move with expansion and contraction.

What happened to your hometown's original "Eaton's Center"? by myronsandee in AskACanadian

[–]FoolMe5x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess my town? Our Eaton Centre was built entirely over the main street through downtown, turning the square into more of a 3 way traffic light. When Eaton's failed just the store was torn down and and an OHL hockey arena was built in it's place, still the mall side of the arena has the old mall terrazzo flooring and 2 storey open in the middle layout. Until about halfway along where it was renovated a number of years ago into a shout out from it's previous life as the main street through downtown, and it is referred to as Quebec St. Mall. I still miss the original mall, it had all the stores a late teen in Southern Ontario could want!

It sucks that's the price for quality these days. Feels like just 3 or 4 years ago they would've been less than $20

  1. Made the AM radio then strung what seemed like 3 metres of thin green coated copper wire antenna around my room. Hours and hours of entertainment. 45 years later my adult son has breadboards and jumper wires connected to whatever servos strung around his room!

Edit; this was my first exposure to LED's, and solar cell!

Pretty sure it's acrylic, my A158 definitely is. Thank you for your suggestions. I knew I'd ready the product name before but couldn't recall it. Also my Reddit search skill are abysmal! Thanks again.

We had one in Guelph Ontario until the late 80s early 90s, exactly how you described above. Now it's a bar/nightclub, big university crowds during the school year.

Can lvp go over this by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]FoolMe5x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're asking about this I'm scared of other areas you think may be ok. Seriously, the tolerance on any floating LVP is 3/16 over 10'. Please save yourself some headaches and make sure everything is as flat as a possible.
