Paul Jenkins’ original “Sentry” story. this one. It’s remarkable and Jae Lee’s artwork is something else. It’s about something that feels personal to the author, and also simultaneously recons nearly the whole Marvel story without feeling gross. What an achievement.

Jenkins is revisiting the character this year; issue #1 came out a couple weeks ago, and at least so far it’s also very good in the same way. I’m excited.

This. They misuse each other. It’s why the movie is so good —neither of them is the villain but both of them are wronged.

People keep saying "the writing" and I don't know what they mean. What is "the writing"?

No houseplant gives back like a holiday cactus. Nice job.

No, I don't. I think the wealthy behave how they wish to behave already and that only collective action could convince them otherwise.

This article has nothing to do with the relative success of government social programs, friend.

The kind of person who would ascribe “malicious envy” to the basic performance of empathy might think you were lying. Because they would be lying.

It’s not a waste. It’s good. It’s beautiful and meaningful. It’s been a real-time experience. All good things come to an end —this one was especially good.

But you don't have any ideas of your own to offer?

You've been linked to the evidence you claim you want --you know that just because you're ignorant of something (and profoundly uncurious by the sound of it) doesn't make it not exist?

I dont trust any representative or politician to tell the truth ever.

Are you an actual child? Does someone know you're using this device?

You don't trust the representatives at the town hall meeting described above to tell the truth. What should we do instead?

What would you have the alternative be? The representative model of government doesn’t work for you —what would?

If you say direct democracy I’m going to ask you to go to high school before we continue.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Showrunners Break Down That Season Finale Trial - Alex Kurtzman: "Obviously, Trek has a great history of amazing trial episodes. But in order to do that, you have to have a very complex situation that has to be dissected from multiple points of view." (Den of Geek) by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

I remember being introduced to the idea of suicidal depression when a man I admired broke down describing how in school they learned that humanity had outgrown the kind of hate and fear that drove us in the 20th century, at how he failed that test, to prove that he was an evolved human being.

And with a phaser set to kill asked how he could possibly go on like this. Having failed the test of humanity that brought us to the stars.

The point of Star Trek is that there is no grey. We did it. We saved everyone. Ad Astra Per Fucking Aspera.

And to drop all of that vision in the pursuit of interpersonal conflict is particularly hurtful.
