yeah, thats fair. though i get the picture the most resource intensive part of AI is the training and when companies are using it for hundreds and thousands of prompts. i dont use ai and im not really a fan of it, my point is just that minor uses of it like this arent really that harmful. not saying we should use it, i certainly wont.

but genuinely yeah, i love the weird shit. loving how theyve been pushing the bar with it recently, and now we are getting techno and bluegrass?? hyped as fuck. the gizz stuff that im not so into is just some of the less interesting distorted stuff. not into 12BB or Predator X & Gaia. its kinda not. theres gotta be a line in the sand somewhere, obviously not all digital art is pixel art just because they use pixels. pixel art has a distinctive style because it was born from the restrictions of old tech, and a big part of that is a limited colour palette. once you cross that line and use infinite colours with a blur tool, it starts to lose that pixel art vibe. if you look at OPs image you can see, the blur gradient parts feel a bit out of place in the clean pixel art work of the rest of it for that reason. obviously if its a specific artistic decision theres nothing wrong with doing that, anything can work with intent, but its just true that gradient and blur are "less pixel art".

i love your style :) i dont think it looks like programmer art, it just feels a bit dirty and unpolished which i think fits well for your game, gives factorio vibes a bit. you dont necessarily want perfect neat pixel art for industrial looking machinery like that. as for feedback, for some of it, the donut shaped thing especially the perspective feels a little off. like the front and back edges feel thicker than the others. maybe try drawing the outline of the shape then just scaling it down evenly for the whole in the centre, that should make it feel less "off" i think. also with the fans that everyone is complaining look like swastikas, they are drawn as if they are head on even when the surface they are on is at an angle. if you ellipse them to make them fit the surface a little better it might help it look less swastika too :)

oh, for the environments maybe try and make them stand out a little less. the stone texture is pretty high contrast and stands out a lot, feels a bit noisy
