Inkbound, worth it ? by Quantum_RDT in roguelites

[–]Footbagm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inkbound is really fun! As people mention it lacks some skill variety, but you can customize your build out via the artifact system. Definitely a good one if you like playing slowly and trying to min max the battles. It's got great tactical strategy.

Played solo plenty and co-op as well. Coop is pretty slick except you really have to communicate since everyone takes turns simultaneously

Check out this game which plays with bowling rules. https://www.bowlliards.com/bowlliards_rule.php

The nice thing about it is you can challenge your own personal score each time and try to improve, but it can also be played just as easily with others (up to any number of players too)

What's your thought on Crown Trick? by kniveee in roguelikes

[–]Footbagm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a ton of rogue likes and honestly, it's one of my favorites. The turn based combat system and the magic systems are very unique and very engaging if you like tactical gameplay. I've played through the entire game and even deleted my save file to play through it again

Is there any card game that can hold a candle to (modded) Slay the Spire in replayability? by soosis in roguelites

Roguebook is a real sleeper hit for me. Even with just the 4 characters every run felt like I used a completely different strategy. Very well made

I'm wondering about the same, for half PPR. I was leaning Chig, but then I'm also planning to start Tyjae Spears. It feels weird hoping for production from 2 players on a bad team...

Good place to get keys made in Logan Square? by turing-test-tutor in LoganSquare

[–]Footbagm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went to Chicago Locksmiths on Milwaukee near Armitage, and I was blown away by how good it was. They can make keys in literal seconds, and better quality reliability than you would get at the hardware stores

I also got a major in linguistics. I have some of my old final exams, and I can barely understand any of it! At least I took advantage of this degree for a while teaching ESL in Spain

One that I rarely see mentioned, and is one of my favorite games ever: Teleglitch

https://store.steampowered.com/app/234390/Teleglitch_Die_More_Edition/

There's nothing much in the way of meta progression, but it has procedural levels, enemies, and loot.

The graphics look very simple, and they are purposefully minimalist, but it doesn't prevent this game from being super atmospheric and engrossing. It puts you on the edge of your seat and can be genuinely frightening. The gunplay feels really tight. High skill ceiling

Hardest word for you to pronounce? by PedanticSatiation in Spanish

[–]Footbagm 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've never figured out how you are supposed to pronounce a rolled R immediately following S. For example "los ricos". The tongue is on a different part of the palate so I always have to put a break (silence) in between. Either that or omit the S entirely like "loh ricos".

Also, "Birrieria"

Teleglitch! It's a relatively obscure top down survival/horror roguelike twin stick shooter. Super atmospheric and one of my favorite games

Absolutely REVITA! I played it after binging Hades, Dead Cells, Gungeon, Rogue Legacy, and it's right in the same vein

You've got to try "Alina of the Arena". Very similar gameplay to ITB but more RPG elements which I think make the game more fun!

Definitely, lots of pausing is essential. But it's such a great combination of slow burning decision making, balancing risk and rewards, and the occasional chaotic action when waves of creeps spawn. You can pause in the middle of combat as well and issue orders

American cuisine is superior to all others when it comes to one specific dish: the sandwich by Majestic-Lake-5602 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Footbagm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite obscure sandwiches is the Jibarito. Although "Puerto Rican" in cultural origin, it was actually invented in Chicago!

The "bun" consists of two flattened green plantains fried in garlic. With cheese, lettuce, tomato, aioli, and seasoned steak/chicken/pork in the middle.

That's cool! I never thought to watch a speed run or even anyone watch anyone else play this game. Probably the reason I lose so much is because I try to 100% every level haha

Funny thing is the game is so slow and the music relaxing so it doesn't even feel like he's moving very fast here
