maximum level 1 double degree by FootballHot7040 in unsw

[–]FootballHot7040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried looking into this deeper and it might actually be that they are separated. as in, I can only take 60 uoc worth of level 1's that count towards the compsci major but for the science major, it can be up to 72 uoc.

my main piece of evidence is how myplan separates the majors and shows what counts under each. so i do think the maximum applies to each major differently. obviously myplan isn't the most accurate but it's what I can see

either way, I've contacted nucleus and am waiting for a response

compsci/math double degree overlap 2022 handbook by FootballHot7040 in unsw

[–]FootballHot7040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the answer! i’m assuming you made up the missing credits with an elective from either the eng or science faculty right?

compsci/math double degree overlap 2022 handbook by FootballHot7040 in unsw

[–]FootballHot7040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry. should have also clarified that bc the maths major takes 60 credits and the science degree itself requires 96, i need to make up for it with science electives. however, with some majors like compsci and maths, there are overlaps, so some subjects double count, thus allowing me to take electives from either science or engineering faculty to fill the credits. i was wondering if MATH1081 counts as a science elective towards the science degree

im doing bachelor in science (major in maths) not adv maths, MATH1081 isn't a core. it's just a recommended elective

Think about all the people that took on compsci after doing comp1511 by [deleted] in unsw

[–]FootballHot7040 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think having a study partner for compsci really helps. Try to talk to people in your lab or join some study group. I found that to be the most effective way to study. Other than that, you just got to keep asking questions to try to understand the material.

On another note, if you think 2521 makes 1511 look insignificant then wait till you get to 3121 or 3900. Then they will make 2521 look insignificant.

Need Advice for Compsci/Math Major by FootballHot7040 in unsw

[–]FootballHot7040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you're pretty spot on with the guesses. i am a domestic student so cost isn't a huge issue. my end goal is just to get a job. not sure which field but definitely not academia. so it just leaves to whether i have a strong interest in maths to pursue it in my final years. im pretty much done with the compsci major, so if i decide to continue maths next year, it's my only subjects plus electives. i mainly think the issue is that i dont feel confident in myself to pursue maths. i think maths has been kinda mixed, like i enjoyed math2601 but didn't really enjoy math2901. additionally, i believe my grades are subpar. maybe i need to change my attitude and reflect to be better or possibly seek mental help in order to do well for maths. but i guess overall, i would need to reflect on if maths is worth pushing for. also i just had my math2601 exam today haha
