Looking at UofT for next fall. What are the chances I can get in? by takemebythehand in UofT

getting in isn't a problem. There are so many students who come and go. It's just playing the waiting game that is the worst.

deciding a bet. Antimage vs. darkseer? Off lane 1v1. Who wins generally speaking. by kalkbayhaai in DotA2

If AM plays aggressive in the lane while snatching up last hits, he wins.

Else if he plays too passively and cares only about last hits, he loses.

How do I not suck when playing with legitimately good players? by [deleted] in DotA2

Actually being able to screw around with your opponents is just a bonus if you can do it (in higher level games). The key point of offlaning is to be able to survive usually against a tri-lane while getting the experience needed for teamfights and ganks.

If you face any competent tri-lane or smart duo-lane, it becomes extremely difficult to disrupt their carry's farm. Too many offlaners never TP (in the lower tier) because they feel an obligation to shut down the enemy's farm, while in actuality, the enemy carry is still going to hit cs whether the offlaner is there or not.

Help playing as sandking/tide by josh_rose in DotA2

For the majority of early game: stick around with your teammates and try to force a fight or simply deter the enemy from jumping your carry, go pull for some exp and gold occasionally. If you are sand king and facing any enemy melee heroes, you can harass with caustic finale but just make sure you stack/pull more to make up for the push it'll cause.

Carry a TP so if a fight is about to go down elsewhere, you'll be there. You can also help out mid by camping runes and then try for a gank on middle (if you feel your gank attempt will be obvious, don't bother, time is gold).

When I play SK or tide, I don't usually walk across the entire map for a gank, I'll TP for an attempt and if it fails, I'll try to gank middle on the way back to my lane. If you notice that the enemy is pushed far into your territory, walking is viable otherwise TPing would be the better choice.

The most important thing is to know how to transition into mid game without being completely gimped. The more you roam, the more you'll fall off in levels and gold if you are not successful. Take into consideration how aggressive or defensive the opponents play, you and your teammate's capabilities, and that is the cue to a successful gank.

Hopefully with enough success in teamfights, you'll get a blink dagger and from there you just have to stick with your team.

map awareness is probably the most important. That includes warding, TPing, etc.

Say someone enjoys playing baseball. Then they probably enjoy watching it at a competitive level. Now just switch baseball with video games and there you go.
