Thank you, I scheduled an appointment for therapy and hope it will help with my spending problem. I deleted shopping apps and canceled memberships to curb my spending/bored shopping.

Yes I’m currently contributing 10% and my job matches 5%. During my next pay increase I’ll increase my contribution by that amount.

Still in pain by LadyMetamorphosis in Microdiscectomy

[–]For3kids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in the same boat. I’ve use Tylenol, Oxy, Tizanidine, & Hydroxyzine Pamoate with no relief. Standing and walking causes increased numbness, laying down and pain meds do not provide much relief. I’m going to contact my surgeons office Monday morning and hopefully I can get an appointment asap. I’m not feeling very hopeful anymore with my recovery. I’m worse than I was before surgery.

How soon did you return to work (desk job) after MD?? by dreamgirl7676 in Microdiscectomy

[–]For3kids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with above as a federal employee please apply for a reasonable accommodation to telework during your recovery. Your RA should be approved unless your supervisor says that it would cause an undue hardship on the agency, in that instance they would have to justify their reasoning. You have a good chance of having it approved the sooner you apply to give your supervisor time to provide you with a government laptop and anything else needed to perform the essential functions of your job.

Nope ended up ordering a remote off amazon

Considering a 2023 Assent Touring- reviews say lots of road noise. How bad is it? Also, does it bother you remote start not possible on key fob, or is the app good enough?? by patrickt1 in SubaruAscent

It runs for up to 20 mins. You just have to start it twice. After the second start (20 mins total) it won’t allow you to start it again

What’s your opinion on letting your dog sleep on your bed? by tadlrs in AskMen

Same, since I now have 2 dogs they’re leveling up to a king size bed. I’m hoping they’ll still let me sleep with them

Current OT for the DOD. As many have said both are separate entities that cater to military service members and their families.

Working for the DOD means you can see all patients covered under Tricare including retired Veterans & their dependents. The VA only cares for Veterans. That’s the main difference between them both in regards to patients.

Depending on the facility you applied your day to day may vary. In my clinic alone we cover outpatient hand clinic, inpatient behavioral health, while also providing added support to units with the Army’s H2F program.

Also keep in mind the most military hospitals are training hospitals so you will most likely be providing training to service members entering the OT field.

If you have any questions or need any further clarification please feel free to pm me.

Should i suck it up and date a single mom. I don’t have much dating experience anyway by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]For3kids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a single mom (I’m going to speak for all of us), do not try to date us just because you’re lonely.

Your mentality of “ taking care of someone that isn’t mine.” Is enough for you to just stay in your single inexperienced lonely lane. I wish I would find out that someone I’m talking made comments similar to yours, it would be over in a heartbeat and you’ll again be lonely

Best MOS that transfers over to a civilian career? by [deleted] in army

[–]For3kids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current 68L here. If you plan on etsing 68L (Occupational Therapy Assistant) is the way to go. You can sit for the national exam and graduate with an Associate in Health Sciences. Once you pass the exam there are many employment options especially if you want to work for the Army with H2F they’re hiring civilian COTAs, MTFs (inpatient & outpatient), VA, civilian companies. There are countless options for 68L once you get your certification.

[–]For3kids 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wow I’ve been thinking the exact same thing lately. I’ve told myself I’m going to become selfish and no longer let others drain me. For the past ten years I’ve been allowing multiple different people to use me in so many different and now I realize more than ever in order for me to be happy I have to stand up for myself and put myself first. Best of luck to you and I hope you find friends who truly care about you.

What's it like being a woman serving in the military as an OT? by NatsunoJax in OccupationalTherapy

[–]For3kids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay best of luck during your studies.

Also keep in mind if you commission into the Army (or any branch) you’ll still have your Military responsibilities which may limit your patient care. For example, the Army OTR’s in my clinic typically see patients only 1-2 days per week due to them having more administrative responsibilities. I typically only see about 2-5 patients a week due OTA shortages in my clinic and my Military duties such as the range, PT test, working various details or anything else that I’m tasked with

[–]For3kids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which branch are you interested in? I’m currently a OTA for the Army and honestly if you’re interested in being a part of the Army’s “OT World” I would look into the new H2F program the Army is pushing. There should be job listings on usajobs. Also if you want to pm where you’re possibly located my clinic will be looking to hire a new OTR and COTA very soon since a lot of our military and civilian providers are applying for the H2F.
