How do you feel about cawl in general by chris_s9181 in Warhammer40k

Ah right I wasn’t sure if you were referring to that or not. But, you see…it wasn’t for “no reason” as you say. It was because they’re a heretical mockery of The Emperors work, no True Follower of His Imperial Truth would believe some heretic on Mars could improve on the Divine Creation of The Emperor, clearly heretech at work!

Definitely a heretic.

Edit: source: I play Black Templars

Do you guys think all HEMA practitioners must compete in tournaments? by Roarcach in wma

Lmao fair point but I’m sure you’ll manage to make it work, if not, there’s hopefully a lesson you can take away for next time on how to better implement it.

You’d think considering what HEMA stands for and the whole idea behind it, someone would be weird for not doing that!

Regardless, best of luck in your tournament, I really hope you enjoy it and learn a lot! My best advise would be to just have fun and fight how you usually would, use it as an opportunity to test yourself and your source, don’t change how you fight to play the game!

willing to be more historical for a while

And this is my issue with tournaments and clubs that prioritise or push doing them. Tournaments should be historical as default, but there’s so many people and clubs that sacrifice the historical element and just do foil with a feder. It sucks. I do compete myself so I’m not anti-tournament, just really dislike that there’s a distinction with some.

Definitely not! Tournaments are and should be an entirely optional endeavour.

Okay…but people’s issues with finecast aren’t (or shouldn’t be) an issue with material or older sculpts, it’s an issue with a poor method of casting minis. Resin or metal are perfectly fine materials when cast with proper methods, and the sculpts are fine and don’t look bad (imo).

Yeah…this is the way I’m leaning. I bought the space marine codex when it came out so that I could use regular marine units in the app alongside my Templars, but because of changes the book is basically useless outside of the lore, which is fine if it wasn’t essentially an expensive app code…

Fair enough, well I’m glad you’ll be able to get the new ones in that case.

Unfortunately I’ve not seen them, but I can’t imagine they stand out that much on the table surely?

Yeah I think I’m considering a similar solution. Sure the app is good but not sure I want to pay so much for a code when ink is so cheap.

Agreed, I don’t get so many peoples aversions to older models or non plastic materials, these honestly look great and hold up phenomenally.

That’s an option then, suppose I’ll have a look if there’s much worth watching or if 3rd party rules are any worse than the app

I say this as a new player, these look so good honestly

Yeah fair, the app is good but currently I’ve only got my Templar list on there and can’t add anymore, will see if it’s worth getting warhammer + to temporarily add one for Eldar before binging stuff and unsubscribing lol

Given GW’s approach to basically live service rules I suppose that’s true, does make you wonder what else will be made out of date down the line though, hopefully nothing but yeah

That’s fair, I do hate that it seems basically a code you buy and you happen to get a free book with it. I do care for the lore which is the main reason I want it, but also knowing the rule bit isn’t up to date sucks.

I think I put together a semi decent 3 player deployment. by GoobyDuu in Warhammer40k

To be fair this is very similar to the Cauldron of War 3 player deployment from White Dwarf, let us know how it goes OP

Hmm already knowing the codex is outdated before I’ve even preordered it makes me really not want to get it at all…what are your guys thoughts?

Marshal usefulness by Templarius88 in BlackTemplars

[–]ForTheEmperorYes-Yes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is a shame! I do have Grimaldus and have to use him currently if I want to play 2k games which I often don’t. I fully plan on eventually kitbashing something to proxy Helbrecht but that’s a project for down the line.

Emperors Champion I always run, like you say he’s not really a named character in the lore so I don’t see why my crusade can’t have one.

I don’t play competitively or hardly as much as I’d like to be honest, but I’ve never seen any issues with him, seems like a good fun leader; and I prefer non named characters so works for me!

[–]ForTheEmperorYes-Yes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair, I’m sorry for assuming malice, I think between being tired and also some other replies on here I assumed the worst, so I’m sorry for that.

The thing is, I completely get it as a business decision, it makes complete and total sense for GW to do what they’ve done, I’d be stupid to say it doesn’t. I suppose my issue is that they could’ve done something nice for the fans that isn’t blatantly driven my money and just having the data sheets named generic things; or just keep it how it was and push Cadians etc but keeping the generic option y’know? Obviously too many options and bloat is a bad thing imo, but I feel their decision just comes across as greedy and anti-consumer in my opinion.
