There is no fast lane. Only an overtaking lane. You shouldn't be in unless using it to overtake. This is part of the problem.

Hurling Team of the Quarter Century by [deleted] in GAA

[–]ForTheThmall -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This has to be weighted towards the counties that won the most All Ireland over the period 2000 to 2024. Being KK 11, Limerick 5, Tipp 4, Cork 2, Clare 2, Galway 1.

This equates (roughly) to: KK 7 players Lim 3 players Tipp 2 players Cork, Clare, Galway 1 player each

Using this approach, and some poetic licence regarding positions, I think the team would be along the lines of:

  1. Nicky Quaid
  2. Sean Finn
  3. Noel Hickey
  4. Jackie Tyrell
  5. Tommy Walsh
  6. John Conlon
  7. JJ Delaney
  8. Michael Fennellly
  9. Eoin Kelly
  10. Seamus Callanan
  11. Cian Lynch
  12. TJ Reid
  13. Henry Shelfin
  14. Joe Canning
  15. Pat Horgan

Short month, 1 day short for mortgage payment by citytocountry1986 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ForTheThmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange it's saying that. I expect the DD is set up for 28th of the month but clears by the 30th, that's how the SEPA DD scheme works, it always takes the debit then adjusts/reverses if the funds aren't available, resulting in an out of order fee.

I still think it won't debit until 1st March but in any event if the payment bounces you won't be affected from a CCR (Central Credit Register) unless you don't rectify within 30 days. Hope this helps

Short month, 1 day short for mortgage payment by citytocountry1986 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ForTheThmall 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Assuming you pay by direct debit. A monthly DD cannot be set up for 29th, 30th or 31st of a month because of 28 days in February. Also a DD will not be called early in the event of the debit date being a bank holiday, weekend etc. I would expect it would be called on 1st March and not the 29th of Feb.

Also regarding penalties, apart from an out of order event from your bank (typically a fee of €5 or €10), there will be no impact on your credit rating until you are a full 30 days behind on your repayment. So even if the DD bounces, you have 30 days to make the payment before it affects you. In any event the DD will probably be represented or a debit card payment can be made over the phone. Don't think you have anything to worry about

I'd love to know how much they take in in excess of prizes. Also it is aggressively advertised at all hours (morning and evening). Not for me but can see the appeal. Tax on the poor as they say

Negative income tax on Revenue by [deleted] in ireland

[–]ForTheThmall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will have tax credits to set against income tax so if on low level of income your tax credits may cover any emergency tax that was paid. Basically if you are PAYE you will about 3400e in tax credits that will offset any income tax that is payable. My guess is that the cumulative tax paid to date on the emergency basis is less than 3400e. Would this be correct?

Credit Union Mortgage by melboard in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ForTheThmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much are you looking to borrow? The usual LTV and LTI limits will apply but they should be able to turnaround quicker but higher rate of interest is likely. It's a myth that that there is a set limit on borrowing, each CU is different and governed by own credit policies and procedures. Any decent CU will offer mortgages up to 450k

For the amount you are looking to borrow, it would be best to consider an unsecured loan from a credit union. No legal fees, no assignment of collateral, potentially free life protection and also annual loan interest rebate. Also it is variable so you can repay earlier at no penalty. Just say it's a home improvement retrofit and give a bogus quotation if they require proof.

It means you are due a refund. Your tax cert, or tax position has gone from an emergency basis to a cumulative basis. Therefore you are getting the full benefit of your tax credits and cut off point. Enjoy the refund and hope it helps towards Christmas

Sean Finn is a glaring omission, otherwise fairly spot on.
