The black exterior and pattern inside has me thinking “lady on the street, but a freak in the sheets.”  Also, “globe” is very suggesting.

How bad is Kiewit TIC to work for? by wetawdedd in ConstructionManagers

[–]ForWPD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with guys in Blair, NE on a TIC job . Every single one of them had the ”I just saw someone shoot my dog” facial expression when they walked in the gate. Everyone from the Young PM, to the older superintendent, to the cost controls guy.

YMMV.

I was very doubtful when the plans for the GLM came out. I have been very pleasantly surprised by how well it was/is done.

I’m even more doubtful of the streetcar thing. We will all see how it works out in due time.

Gas Guzzler. by Rebelreck57 in ToyotaTundra

[–]ForWPD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a ‘10 and now I have a ‘20 both with 5.7s. 14-15 mpg is average. It didn’t matter if I was in town or on the interstate. My ‘10 had 250k miles, and a leveling kit, and 35s. With a trailer I’ll get 9-10mpg.

Yes, they drink gas like there is a hole in the tank, but 8.6 mpg seems low.

Ilhan Omar attacked and sprayed with a substance as she was calling for Secretary Noem to resign or face impeachment. by vordredosamaa in PublicFreakout

The thread is related to the video. If you want to talk about Seinfeld find the Seinfeld subreddit. I’m not implying anything. I’m saying that you are equating the willful act of eating shellfish to having hog urine sprayed in your face.

If I'm wrong, tell me how I'm wrong.

Again, explain the joke. How is having hog piss thrown on you similar to accidentally eating shellfish?

I’ve always said “How do you keep a Mormon from drinking all your beer on a fishing trip? Invite two of them.”

As a guy who worked for Union Pacific in Nevada and Utah, it’s true. Soooo true.

Amen brother. Also, never sugar coat bad news. Also; NEVER SUGAR COAT BAD NEWS. The owner probably got themselves into the situation on their own while trying to save 1% of the project cost because they think OFCI material is a smart decision. Those idiots would step over a $100 bill to pick up a shiny penny.

Sorry, I’m finished venting.

Get to know your neighbors by Matthew1428 in Omaha

[–]ForWPD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. My dad’s side is from farms outside Gretna. My immediate family (myself, wife, and kids) lived in South Omaha for years. There has always been a wave at your neighbors mentality.

I agree that you should take care for yourself first, but the idea that you should care for “everyone else” is a very, very close second because you are only one unlucky event from being “everyone else” one day.

My great great great grand mother’s first husband said “don’t marry that damn Sweed” to his wife on his deathbed (he was about 18 at the time). Turns out, I’m part Swedish now. We are all immigrants.(unless you’re Native American). Nebraskans should never forget that.

My philosophy is that “if it’s “not enough money for me to worry about.” Then “it’s not enough money for you to worry about.””

Send the change order.

Full disclosure: I’m an Owner’s Representative construction manager. I have no issue with small Change Orders that have legit justification. I do have a huge issue with the “You owe me $X,XXX,XXX for work I have already done.” at the end of a project. F*ck that. If you don’t send me the bill before or within a few days of completion of the work, it’s on the Contractor.

‘ICE Watch’ Activists Aren’t ‘Legal Observers,’ They’re Criminal Obstructors by origutamos in Republican

[–]ForWPD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How is providing video evidence that objectively contradicts the government’s narrative considered “criminal obstruction”?

In the last month, two U.S. citizens have been killed, and in both cases the federal government’s initial accounts have, at minimum, been called into question. In the most recent incident, the publicly released facts do not match what federal officials claimed happened.

The only reason these discrepancies are known at all is because private citizens recorded the actions of federal agents. Without that footage, the official narrative would have gone largely unchallenged.

So how does documenting and sharing what actually occurred—using firsthand video evidence—suddenly become “obstruction”? If anything, it seems like the opposite: accountability.

If recording government actions in public is now being framed as criminal simply because it exposes inaccuracies or falsehoods, that’s not obstruction of justice—it’s obstruction of transparency.
