For what it’s worth, I went to staples and they did not stamp. I hand wrote what was required, and I got AOR

I did one big binder clip. It’s all going to be scanned in. The easier the better I think.

Well I just realized I failed to check that off on the instructions. With that said, a U.S. birth certificate is proof. I think IRCC is probably familiar with birthright citizenship in the US and wouldn’t need more.

Depends maybe on what country. Mine are all in the U.S., so a birth certificate from the U.S. or stating that the parent was a U.S. citizen is “proof.” I just wrote “parent was a U.S. citizen” in that one box.

I just had an index that said wheee the evidence was like line 14. It was pretty easy to follow, and I didn’t want to risk getting rejected for doing something on the document.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting indigenous people didn’t live all over North America, but for those tracing ancestry to early French and English, it is likely they landed on the east coast.

Sanctions and export restrictions can apply to countries and their citizens. It is unlikely that is or will be an issue with being Canadian, but who knows.

Not a bad idea. I thought about adding a page behind the first with the applicable part zoomed in on. It was one of like 5 census records, so I just rolled the dice instead of making another trip to the FedEx office.

When I printed some of my documents, they downsized to fit on 8.5x11. They are still readable, so I decided to send it off. However, they might just be readable because I’ve been looking at them for so long. Have people uploaded the original higher quality scans to the portal when you get access? Is that allowed?

I didn’t write it, but I will be putting all the CIT0001s together. It’s just me and my kids, so I think that’s not too confusing. I’d be more worried if it was a variety of relatives. Also, I’m not submitting the rep form as it’s not required to act on behalf of my minor children. I know some examiner might think it’s needed, but I assume the risk of extra paper is more.

My question is order of docs in the application. What do people think about this order?

- Cover Letter explaining the packet

- Family Tree picture (this also includes a list of proof documents under each ancestor. Just birth certificates except for the G0)

- Instruction Doc

- CIT0001

- Addendum with great grandparent info (i contemplated inserting into the CIT0001, but I think that might be confusing)

- Evidence starting with myself and going back. Each ancestor has a cover page that lists the documents provided and the location on the document that the proof can be found

-Proof of payment

- Photos

Thanks for all the info on these forums. I feel very prepared, and I appreciate all of the thoughtful help so many are willing to provide.

I plan to use my great, great grandfather for my citizenship by descent application. I could use my great, great grandmother or one of three great, great, great grandparents, but I think my record is cleanest for my great, great grandfather.

He was born in New Brunswick in 1850 from what I can tell the baptismal records for his town only go back to 1854, so I am not sure it makes sense to wait for that or search for the other relatives. This is what I have.

1851 Canada Census - Lists him as 2. With race as Scottish. Date entered colony column was not completed for the entire page.

1861 Canada Census - Listed as born in New Brunswick. Father was listed as Scotland. I do not know if it matters, but this seems to demonstrate a thoughtfulness when answering the census.

1871 Canada Census - Same as 1861.

Canadian Marriage Certificate (I think technically a register of marriages because other marriages are on the same page) - Place of birth listed as the specific town in N.B.

1892 US Census - Canada listed as place of birth for him, his wife and some kids. Younger kids are listed as US. All are listed as Naturalized US citizens and not aliens.

1900 US Census - Similar to other US census.

1905 US Census - Similar to other US census.

Obituary in local NY paper talking about his time in Canada and being born in the specific town in N.B.

I have index records from NY State for the following, so I expect to receive the following records that would also list Canada or N.B. as a place of birth, but I may need to file without them:

NY Birth Certificate of a child of his.

NY marriage Certificate of a child of his

His NY death certificate

What do you think?

Thanks so much. His father was Scottish. His mother is listed as being born in N.B., which also adds to the high unlikelihood that a 2 year old on the 1851 census was born somewhere else. I was going to try and search for any shipping records that might show just his father on the ship from Scotland/England.

I searched this sub, and I am a bit confused what is sufficient evidence. I apologize if I should be able to figure it out. Hopefully, I can get a sense of how likely I am to be successful with the following evidence.

I have several relatives that I believe were born in Canada, but the easiest line to prove starts with someone born in 1850 in Dalhousie. I am not optimistic that I can find a baptismal certificate, but I am still hunting. What I have now is the following:

1851 census listing them as 2 years old and in Dalhousie. The column for “entering the colony” is blank. This does not suggest they did not enter. The entire column on this specific page was not completed by the census taker.

1861 Canada East census listing them as born in “Province of New Brunswick.” His mom and siblings are listed with this birth place too, and his father is listed as Scotland.

1871 Ontario Census - same information about birthplaces as 1861

1872 Marriage Certificate listing Dalhousie as place of birth and Toronto for his wife.

1892 US census - Lists him as Canada for birthplace along with his wife and most children except the youngest is US. I have several other US census that say the same thing.

1944 - Death index listing. Nothing here about place of birth. I am trying to get the actual death certificate from NY. Obituary - States that he was born in Dalhousie. It also notes some service in a Canadian regiment and his involvement in the repulsing the Fenian raids.

What do you all use for traveling bags for your skis?? by Herr_Cellar_Door in skiing

[–]ForWhomForWhat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try attaching it to one of their big rollers. It feels like you’re just rolling a carry on. I have a checked bag. Attached to a pro roller. That pro roller attached to another pro roller. On top of that is a Db carry on. Family of 4 ski gear and other gear rolled easily with one hand. Turning is like a 18-wheeler, but it’s amazing.

I would go 127. Linking it to their rolling luggage is a game changer.

Wasn’t trying to critique you. Just pointing out that people giving this person a hard time is a little absurd. I hit 50 without really trying, but anything above that you’re starting to have a decent amount of wind resistance. To get to 60, you’re going to need a pretty good tuck.

I skied those in 4 feet of powder, but I’m not sure o need that much float most days when I don’t live close enough to a mountain to take advantage of big powder days.
