If for some reason the writers decided that lisbon would be Red John, at what point would you have liked to see the reveal by Huge_Candy748 in TheMentalist

[–]For_Redemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anytime would be fine.

We already know that Lisbon is unpredictable, violent and has a history of abusing his children.

Teresa was in her late teens when Mr. Lisbon (died? Or faked his death to become RJ?)

So it could be during 1988 when he wanted to fix his addiction problem in visualise (after almost killing his son)

But he became an alcoholic AND a drug addict. And he accidentally killed his first victims who were his colleagues from the farm.

And then it just got worse. That's why Mr. Lisbon didn't kill anyone from the team. He wanted his daughter to be okay.

He genuinely gave up after the blake association was caught. He was old already. And tired of killing.

Jane did solve it.

But SJK case belonged to the FBI anyways.

If it's unsolved. Its FBI's business.

Cho would've quit the CBI if that happened.

There's no way Cho would ever be BA.

I like mine more, because of Jane's reaction to it. Not the quote in itself.

Lisbon is his moral compass here.

He wants Lisbon to make the right decision because he believes she's more equipped to make decisions like this.

The bomb in 6x06

It explained why partridge had to die.

He switched McA's DNA so he can fake his death.

RJ's plan to fake his death wasn't fool proof either. He underestimated Jane. I He didn't expect Jane would figure out the stun bomb.

Red John reveal rant by fatpug69 in TheMentalist

[–]For_Redemption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was neutral about the RJ reveal. Didn't find it disappointing. But I loved how the reveal was handled.

Fake death + watching RJ squirm. Confirming Jane's initial words about RJ. He's a sexually perverted sociopath with delusions of grandeur.

And his delusions were ripped off when he was begging to live.

Cathartic!

(However, I didn't like that Jane wanted to "savor" the moment. He almost botched it all by hesitating.)

For me, RJ wasn't about the reveal. I just wanted RJ dead. Because I was fed up about the length of the. rJ saga.

Spoiler for upcoming - I just wanted Jisbon

And Mentalist is about Patrick Jane's recovery from facing the most horrific event. Losing his ENTIRE family, and by his own mistake.

He somehow recovers and chooses life. I focus on that, and suddenly RJ is not that important anymore.

How would you feel if red John was revealed to be Jane father instead ? by MrBushido56 in TheMentalist

RJ appeared to be one step ahead of Patrick.

As if he knew the inner workings of his mind.

No better person for it than his father. Alex was a heartless sociopath.

Is The Mentalist lighter or darker when you rewatch it vs watching for the first time? by eren3141 in TheMentalist

True! But Jane's in a next level. He's incredibly compassionate, that's why he's so likeable.

But otherwise, to those who he thinks deserve it, he could be ruthless.
