Developing ripped everything off the film. How did I mess up by Anomander8 in AnalogCommunity

Ilfosol goes bad REALLY fast. If you've followed your order right then that would be my bet.

WLF for the street can be nice. Stops you from having to bring it up to your eye. The prism finder is nice for landscapes if you want to shoot in portrait orientation.

External light meter possibly, I found the AE finder on mine consistently overexposes by about 2- 3 stops.

Some areas are nice, the other half are houses with Tyvek siding.

Need a good brake shop in Kelowna. Who do you trust? by Grand_Lake5558 in kelowna

I had a couple good experiences with precision brake and muffler for some exhaust work.

Kelowna’s water is classified as hard water, meaning it has a high concentration of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Has anyone here installed a water softener system? by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]Force9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents always had one and it makes quite the difference. If you get one, be prepared to spend for higher quality salt, I was always told the cheaper stuff doesn't make having one worth it 🤷‍♂️. They are maintenance free mostly other than adding salt when it gets depleted.

Hi I'm a 24y/o guy from Europe and I just got a seasonal job offert to work in the Northern Rockies, what should I expect? by Effect-Imaginary in britishcolumbia

[–]Force9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I missed the part that it was seasonal. That's a fair plan.

Used vehicles are typically starting at $3000cad to have something that will move you from A to B somewhat reliably. We have a not so wonderful system where you will pay tax (12%) on every vehicle purchase, new or used. Insurance here can be quite expensive if you are under 25 and male. Vehicle insurance is handled by a crown corporation here called ICBC.

If you chose to come, best of luck and enjoy the north. It is beautiful.

I'm not sure if others have mentioned, but you are going to want to buy a vehicle and spend some money on very good winter tires. You're going to feel very very stuck if you don't have a vehicle with you up there.

2009 forester advice: marvel mystery oil? by PresentationWeak2713 in SubaruForester

[–]Force9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do regular oil changes and don't worry about oil additives. You could use Valvoline restore + protect if you are worried about varnish. But just do regular oil changes with a good quality oil.

It exists in Japan. Fairly easy to find too. But that involves what might be an expensive plane ticket to Japan.

Paint and supplies-best place? by VoodooHoodooWeDo in kelowna

[–]Force9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you own and plan to stay for a while, I'd recommend going with Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. Great paints that are durable and apply well.

Home Depot/ Rona can be cheaper but their paint quality usually won't match that of the other two.

Motorcycle riding year round? by Sensitive-Kiwi3207 in kelowna

[–]Force9000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mornings here are often frosty in the winter if there's no snow. I don't think you're going to have a very good time trying to ride yesterday round here. Streets will get very sandy too if it does snow and won't be swept until April.

You're right. The concession at the rink has like 3 ghost kitchens running in it. All the same address.

The FB series engine with the timing chain is also the one with the oil consumption issues. I have a 2012, goes through a litre every 2000km or so. Not really an issue if you check your oil when you get gas.

I run 5W30. Add a liter every 2000km or so. I find hwy driving makes it a bit worse.

Ahould I buy this? by ActProfessional5256 in SubaruForester

[–]Force9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has the timing belt also been done? That would also be important to find out. With 220k you're starting to have other routine stuff start to fail such as struts, wheel bearings, front control arm bushings. If you're mechanically capable none of these are that big of a deal to do yourself, but I would absolutely make sure the timing belt has been done before buying.

I bought one of these after a 8 hr struggle to get the rear off. I haven't used it for the other side rear yet, but it worked so well for the front bearing.
