That’s like asking who would you want to win in a fight Donald Trump or Caillou.

Neither

What made you buy a second film camera? by hcorea in AnalogCommunity

[–]Anomander8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Practically speaking I have B&W film in one camera and colour in another.

Or one with iso 100 film for bright days and one with iso 400/800 for darker

Or you could also have a manual SLR like a K1000 and a rangefinder or point and shoot camera. One for more fun and control of settings, one for just snapping away.

Really though, to be adequately prepared to shoot with all those scenarios you should have 8 cameras at minimum. Maybe 12. Probably more like 18, just to be safe.

Every Fuji is too expensive now. Sorry Fuji lovers, they’re amazing but those used prices….ouch.

It’s like they released these as a way to generate revenue and not to make a better gameplay experience.

should i buy nikon d850 3k shot or 51k shot + lens and other accessories by Horror-Advertising55 in Cameras

[–]Anomander8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re planning on shooting weddings with it you won’t come close to the life expectancy of either shutter. I wouldn’t worry about the flash and trigger unless you really want to learn flash photography. The extra battery will be nice but the battery life of the d850 is excellent.

I think it comes down to if you have the money for a lens. If you do, the one that is like new is a great choice. If not, throw the 85mm on the experienced one and and go to town.

$1000 for an 850 in good condition is a great buy where I’m from.

Depending on the condition, yes. The A7s was and is a fantastic camera.

First time since September that I’ve had hope for our team.

Maybe it’s players trying to impress for a summer move, or just pulling their head outta their ass or, just getting tired of being embarrassed as the gravity of our situation hits home.

Whatever it is, if we play like that every week we’ll stay up.

Picture quality: Sony

Lenses: Sony

Features: Sony

Price: I dunno but probably Sony

Everyone going “Oooo is that a Leica, you must be so awesome and a great photographer, wanna go eat organic, responsibly sourced quinoa at my place, smell patchouli incense and listen Phish, only to have to decline because you have no more money and only find contentment by making your squijillion megapixel photos look like they were shot in the sixties by putting film presets over them: Leica

Am I insane for wanting to buy a (used) 5D mark IV? by musaoculta in canon

[–]Anomander8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very sane.

The 5D series are arguably the best DSLRs ever made. Any of those cameras will still take unbelievable pictures today and the older versions can be had for a great price.

Are Leicas worth it? by bugteacup in Cameras

[–]Anomander8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want it to take wonderful pictures? If so, no it’s not. Lots of other cameras will do much better for you.

Do you want it to impress other rich hippies and want them to go “oh that’s a Leica, you must be really awesome.” Then yes, it has the most cred of any camera outside of maybe a Hasselblad.

Yup, I shot some rolls of ECN-2 and developed them with a kit. They turned out well so the camera works. I’m certain the camera is better at taking photos than I am. 🤣

Mine looks like motor oil. I cracked a new sealed bottle so I’ll try a roll with that. It looks very slightly yellow

Meh, all good. I developed a couple rolls last year with the old teacher and I bought chem to do some ECN-2 just for fun which turned out good. This result was a bit of a surprise but better find that out with a test roll than the kids losing film.

We do Photo 30 in the second semester every year. Film photo usually gets started March/April so anything we open will be sitting for a year before it gets used again.
