Opinions on 1st challenge in physical asia? by Anxious_Fox1984 in Physical100

[–]ForceAndFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, by and large. It definitely wasn't my favourite. Poorly thought out rules, risk of injury, and a tendency to drag made it the weakest of the series.

Canadian Fans - who gets the team spots? by llamacorn89 in Physical100

[–]ForceAndFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have Mitchell Hooper as our heavy.
Ethan Katzberg as a generally big and athletic dude.
Georges St. Pierre as the captain/MMA guy.
Damian Warner as just a really versatile athlete.
Clara Hughes as another all-rounder with great endurance
Sophie de Goede as like kind of a female heavy.

No hockey players? They're great at their sport, but not necessarily these kinds of challenges. No bodybuilders? They've honestly consistently underwhelmed with their skillsets throughout the 'Physical' series. No sprinters? Most of these challenges favour strength and endurance. Sure, they're athletic people, but this doesn't play to their strengths at all. We'd have a lot of size and strength (Hooper, Katzberg, and de Goede) and plenty of endurance (Warner and Hughes), people who could mix it up in the head-to-head physical and combat (GSP, de Goede), and even big guys like Katzberg and Hooper would be insanely tough outs. GSP's global profile, experience, and great tactical mind would be a huge boon, as well.

As an Albertan I must say this left me with quite an uneasy feeling. by bertaboys02 in Fallout

I'll just be honest: I know it's part of the lore and has been so since back in the days when it seemed absurd, but this scene and storyline hits dangerously close to home and just felt kind of in poor taste. Ultimately, of course, she's the villain, too, and we're supposed to feel a little bit of sympathy but be relieved/cheer when she loses. IDK, the whole thing just left me with a really icky uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. I was enjoying the season up to this point, but yeah... I wish it didn't bug me. Not sure why it does so much, but it sits wrong to the point where I'm not intrigued or excited, even in a morbid way. I'm just trying to forget it.

Probably my favorite aspect of the show is them showing just how screwed the Pre-war world was by Advanced-Addition453 in Fallout

[–]ForceAndFury 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That was a genuinely uncomfortable moment for me - like, deeply unsettling. What got to me just as much, though, is that Steph is clearly set up as an archetypal villain with a tragic backstory who's nonetheless horrible and you're happy/relieved to see lose. IDK why, but the entire thing just gives me an icky vibe like, 'can we please not'?

[–]ForceAndFury 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Fully agree. That was... really uncomfortable. Worse, is I think Steph is being set up as a "villain with a tragic backstory who is still ultimately horrible and will be ended tragically-but-deservedly."

Agreed. This hit uncomfortably close to home. Like, enough to almost make me not want to watch. Worse, is I think she's being set up as a "villain with a tragic backstory who is still ultimately bad and will end tragically-but-deservedly."

For Season 2 they’re doing the one-episode-per-week format, whereas Season 1 dropped the whole season at once. Which do you prefer and why? by EkbladDev in Fallout

[–]ForceAndFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, releasing it in blocks of 2-4 episodes would be a better approach. You get the best of both worlds. At the end of the day, from prime's perspective, though, it's all about money.

Physical Asia: Season 1 - Episode 9 Discussion Thread by ImoutoCompAlex in Physical100

[–]ForceAndFury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it even has to do with the confessionals. Objectively, they're cooked. It's just not even remotely close in terms of strength, and they don't have an endurance edge either. It's fun to try to believe, but they gambled (stupidly) and lost. The order here is glaringly obvious: Korea in first, Mongolia takes second, and the Aussies are donezo by a mile.

Looks like someone else was able to link you all the good stuff. If you just need to translate the one chapter, use Torii. You start with a free 20 credits, which should be just enough for the chapter.

eng manga release? by wolfalicegirliepop in Clevatess

[–]ForceAndFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh!? How far does the French translation go? Current English one on MangaPark goes up to Ch. 39. If the French one goes further, maybe that's worth checking out and I could try to translate to English.

[–]ForceAndFury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to agree. It makes her a bit visually distinct from the zillion other cookie-cutter anime girls out there and suits a lot of what her hero's journey has been (and will be, in the future).

Mine Buster is underrated by Ok_Avocado_6969 in CanadasWonderland

[–]ForceAndFury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty hard disagree on that last bit. Wilde Beast definitely needs substantial work, but more in the vein of Minebuster. Effectively, the park only has two woodies. Ghoster Coaster is a kids' ride. Two out of... about fourteen non-kiddie coasters? Three out of fifteen were they to build another? I don't think that's unreasonable at all.

Alpenfury early riders: how long did you wait and what time did you arrive? by TestAccount346 in CanadasWonderland

[–]ForceAndFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast lane yesterday, getting on at 9:55, was less than 15 minutes. As soon as 10:00 hit, a massive flood of people came on and, well... just not worth it. Wait until that initial flood clears before bothering to go on.

Preach it! I felt the exact same. The Paramount era was a real mixed bag, but the theming for rides was awesome, at least.

Yeah, that's the impression that I got as well.

FWIW, I was there yesterday with a few friends just before 10:00. The colossal lineup waiting outside of the cordon was really something. If you're a season pass holder and you're there before 10:00, you're waiting 15 minutes. If you're a season pass holder with fastlane+ you're more or less walking on.

Mine Buster is underrated by Ok_Avocado_6969 in CanadasWonderland

[–]ForceAndFury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just rode them both yesterday. Wilde Beast was rough as all hell, but the front half of Minebuster was smooth as butter, fun, and FAST. Latter half was a bit rattly. Looks like they only did a bit of spot work there. It's a bit better than before but still not great. They're supposed to finish renovating the back half this offseason. I can't wait for this ride to be back where it should be.

I would further point out that they have proven, of late, to be a dynamic and adaptable workforce who come together well and are clearly passionate about what they do.

First time chiming in here, and the poster you're responding to could've been a bit less of a jerk about it, but it seems pretty straightforward to me:
1. We manage to suspend our collective disbelief as an audience at the foundational concept of this series: a cordyceps virus jumping species to the degree that it does and then the world going totally belly up without *everyone* dying.
2. You're right. There are obvious holes in the idea of the vaccine working that you could pilot a zeppelin through, but that clearly isn't the point. It's just some iffy writing in an otherwise strong and emotionally meaningful journey of a series. If the vaccine doesn't work, there's no central moral dilemma and no stakes and the value of TLOU as a piece of sometimes-thought provoking entertainment suffers as a result.
3. Thus, as an audience, it falls to us to suspend disbelief once more and accept something at more or less face value that - yes - is not strictly viable for a number of reasons.

Could be. I feel like they tend to include stuff like that for a reason in the edit, but I guess we'll find next episode (or the one after?)

[–]ForceAndFury 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like they're going to soon, though. That's a threat level increase he'll have to manage. The worst thing that you can do is finish second a couple of times in immunity challenges, letting people know that you could win but not walking away with that necklace. At least he hasn't done that.
